O.K. I never, ever thought I would be sad to not have traveled to New York City in the summer. But after watching several of our friends post pictures on Facebook about their travels to the Big Apple…well, let’s just say I was more than slightly jealous. Adding salt to the wound is just about every TV show we have watched lately have been filmed in NYC. Every establishing shot, either my husband, Bobby, or I will say, “We’ve been there.”
As a way to deal with my melancholy for not having traveled to New York this summer, I thought maybe a look back at some pictures from our previous two years, would help. Or maybe not, but here’s hoping!
A picture of Radio City Music Hall always makes me think of my dad, Bud. He traveled to New York City in 1957 (I think) with his senior class. They went to Radio City.
We made it there in 2017.
We watched the solar eclipse from the roof top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
And I saw a real live Monet! (Judy Pratt would appreciate that.)
Bobby got his New York Style Pizza in Brooklyn.
We enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Times Square.
I enjoyed peering into the lives of the little people at the new Gulliver’s Gate.
And then getting to peer at the city from some of the tallest buildings in New York City.
Enjoying a Broadway Show was so much fun. I’d do it again and again if I could. (We saw Groundhog Day.)
Of course, seeing the Statue of Liberty is a NYC must. (Even if you just see it from the Staten Island Ferry — which is free.)
On the Staten Island Ferry, you also get a breath-taking view of Manhattan Skyline.
And while our trips to New York have always been filled with wonder and fun, we have stopped to remember those who perished on 9/11.
Yep, it’s clear that I missed traveling to New York City this year. But thankfully, any time I want to relive the experience I can look back at our pictures. Thank you for indulging me! I hope you enjoyed the look back like I did. If you want to see details about our visit, you can check out our stories here.
P.S. Bobby said this post has inspired him to write a round up of all the places in New York we visited, but never wrote about.
