I am the “wonderful wife” of Bobby Warren — that’s what he tells me anyhow. Also the mom to four cats (Buddy, Gracie, Mr. Thomas and Nikki) and one crazy hyper dog, Owney.
This is my personal blog, Wendi’s Weekend Trips (and Whatnot). It is focused on fun things I or my guest bloggers do, mostly on weekends. I also allow for “whatnot” because some things just interest me and don’t fit into an actual weekend trip.
My goal is to create a blog that is fun to read and can show off the awesome pictures that Bobby takes. He is my photographer and videographer. He is also the supporter and encourager of my dreams.
I typically post 2-4 times a week — although I have had some times when there might be a week or two that goes by without any new posts. This is mostly due to the fact that I am busy — or maybe just lazy — or maybe just boring, as I can’t think of anything to write about during that time. To make sure you don’t miss my newest posts, you can subscribe via email. I also can be found on Facebook (Wendi Breese Warren or Wendi’s Weekend Trips and Whatnot–although that is a page on Bobby’s Facebook account), Twitter and Instagram (@WendiWarrenBlog). I’m still getting used to Twitter and Instagram. I’m really not that tech savvy. Bobby has been my tech support, too! However it happened, I’m glad you found me!
My Biography
The most important thing to know about me is that I am happily married to the most wonderful man in the world. He is the one that my mom promised God was preparing for me. It just took me until I was 26 to find him — or for him to find me. We married over 20 years ago and it has been happily ever after ever since. Not perfect, of course, but the happiest I have ever been.
I have a master’s degree in counseling and am an independently licensed clinical counselor. I maintain my license — I worked too hard to get it — but I don’t practice anymore. I found that I am better suited for administrative work. Which works out for me because I’ve been at my current job for over 10 years, previously as a contract coordinator and now as an HR Coordinator focusing on benefits.
As I said above we have 4 cats and a dog. We have maintained that level of animals (or more) for most of our 20 years. Unfortunately, that means we have lost a few of them to old age and one suddenly when he was just two. (We still miss our dear Kirby, who you can read about here.) Although they are gone from here, I am sure I will see them again in heaven. Bobby isn’t sure he agrees, but he hopes I’m right. (I usually am.)
Bobby and I also sponsor children through Compassion International. Doing so has been a real blessing in our lives. We hope that they are blessed by us, too.
I have always enjoyed writing, but have been too afraid of rejection to truly pursue it — until now. I have written a fairy tale, Princess Grace: A Tale of Faith, Hope and Love, which is an allegorical story of God’s love for us. I have also created a budgeting booklet from a presentation I did at a women’s retreat. It is titled The Joy of Budgeting. I have dabbled in writing screenplays, but as of now nothing has been made into a movie … yet. I’ve thought about writing a marriage/relationship book, but I keep stopping. I’m not sure I know why Bobby and my marriage is so awesome and whenever I try to put down in words some sort of advice, it sounds either too preachy or too pollyanish (a phrase I got from my dad, the ever realist, Warren Breese). If I ever write it, it will be with a lot of outside help, I’m sure.
In my free time I enjoy hanging out with family and friends. Obviously traveling to different places is something I enjoy. I walk Owney at least two times a day. And watching movies and TV — being a first class couch potato.
