Today, September 6, might be considered the unofficial end of Summer 2016 -- or beginning of Fall depending on if you think of Labor day as the end of Summer. Phew! I don't know about you, but for me and my husband, Bobby, it has been a whirlwind of a season. I thought I might reflect on things a little, partly because I am tired from the weekend, but mostly because I had such a great summer, I kind of want to re-live it. The Beginning of Summer in May -- It started out quiet enough with … [Read more...]
Schnipper’s: A New York Restaurant That is My Kind of Place
When my husband, Bobby and I traveled to New York City in July, we had the opportunity to try plenty of places to eat. Some we had planned to go--like Serendipity 3. We also had an idea of what we wanted to get in New York - - like New York style pizza, "real" bagels and something from a street vendor. Broadway’s An American in Paris, a Must-See Show
Planning a trip to New York City can be a daunting task. Trying to figure out what to do and see is hard, especially if you have no frame of reference--other than what you see on TV. The reason is there are so many to choose from--even on the short notice we had. (I understand some shows are sold out months in … [Read more...]
Ways to Get Around New York City
When my husband, Bobby, and I went to New York City in July, I was more than a little nervous. See, I am a girl from a small town and while there was a time that I felt the draw of the city, that was a long time ago. Now I am much more comfortable in small towns and on two-lane roads. However, we were headed to the Big Apple because that was where the conference was being held that I was doing a presentation. So like it or not, I had to "soldier through" like Bobby says. One of the … [Read more...]
Experiencing Serendipity in New York City
In the movie Serendipity, Sara, the female lead said she liked the word Serendipity because it means "fortunate accident." Dictionary.com gives one definition for the word as an "aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident." I think I like the dictionary's definition better, because I almost think that is how things happen for Bobby, my husband, and me. We often find things by accident. Well I guess I shouldn't say that our trip to New York City was an accident, because we … [Read more...]
