Last weekend, when my husband, Bobby, and I went away for an overnight stay in Mansfield, Ohio, we took a detour to the Mohican State Lodge and Resort. I mentioned in a previous post that I knew I liked the place as soon as I walked in, but that I would tell you why later. (You can read my previous post here.) Well, it's later. I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but sometimes when I visit a location it just makes me want to linger. That's what happened Saturday. We walked into … [Read more...]
Simon’s: Real New York Pastrami in the Buckeye State
This past Monday, February 6, I asked my husband, Bobby, for a favor. I had to go to downtown Cleveland to drop off a document for my company, so I asked him to drive me. I really dislike driving to Cleveland. Even though it is closer than Columbus, I would rather drive there than go north to Cleveland. Because Bobby is fully awesome, he only hesitated for a moment. He agreed to take me, if I would do the driving back to Wooster so he could work. I agreed. Whatever it took so I didn't have to … [Read more...]
Are You Ready for Some Super Bowl … Food?
So, as I am writing this, I am sitting in my sister's dining room during the last few minutes of the third quarter of Super Bowl 51. Right now, the New England Patriots, who were favored to win, are actually behind the Atlanta Falcons. If you know anything about me, you know I can get really stressed out when watching a football game when I care how it ends. Since Bobby, my husband, is from Massachusetts, he is a huge fan of the Patriots. I am a fan through marriage. So I am stressed right … [Read more...]
Great Ice Cream from A to Z’s
I lived in Medina County growing up. I moved back to the area, well close enough, by moving to Wayne County several years ago. However, I have never gone through Hinckley, Ohio at least not to my knowledge. That is until last Saturday, January 28, 2017. My husband, Bobby and I traveled to Walton Hills to Bedford Reservation with our dog, Owney. Both Bobby and Owney wrote about our adventures there, but I get the chance to write about our visit to Z's Cream and Bean. After a chance to walk … [Read more...]
A Wisconsin Tale of Butter Burgers, Spicy Cheese Bread
Wendi and I watched an episode of Cook's Country, a PBS series done by the folks at America's Test Kitchen, in which the chefs made a Wisconsin spicy cheese bread. While talking about the bread, they also mentioned Wisconsin Butter Burgers, something of which I had never heard. The bread looked good. It used a brioche dough, which involves eggs. I am not a big fan of brioche breads, but this spicy cheese bread looked really good, so I asked Wendi to make one. She probably will for our … [Read more...]
