It's a funny thing when you get what you wish for and then you wonder what you were thinking. For example, I recently was speaking with my husband, Bobby, my official videographer/photographer, about my blog. I said something along the lines of "It's called Wendi's Weekend Trips and Whatnot, but I haven't been on a weekend trip in a while." Famous last words I think. Because the very next day I am caught up in a whirlwind. You see Bobby, who just so happens to be a reporter for The Daily … [Read more...]
Blogging, Beaches and Bistros: Myrtle Beach-Style
Guest Blog Almost before I could get the question out of my mouth, the answer was YES! Exhilaration followed! Before embarking on a last minute 50th birthday celebration vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC., I asked Bobby Warren if he was interested in a guest blogger for his wife's blog. He answered YES. Well, he answered for Wendi anyway. So, Wendi, I hope I don't hurt your ratings too much! No matter what time of year you visit the coast, there is one thing for certain; you get hungry! … [Read more...]
Surplus Stories from the Amish Heartland
It's been a week or so since my husband, Bobby, and I took our anniversary trip to the Amish heartland. But we still enjoy talking about all we did. Bobby and I love to get away. (If you want to check out the blogs about Berlin, click here or here.) We were on the way to Strasburg to Blazin Burgers. Bobby wanted to take me there for … [Read more...]
First Amendment Returning to First Love
The saying goes, "All good things must come to an end." While that might be true, it is best when we get a chance to say when the end comes. That is exactly what Kyle Durniat and her family have been able to do with the First Amendment Public House in Downtown Wooster. They will be closing the restaurant on December 31, 2015. When I first heard about First Amendment closing, I was sad. I wouldn't say I'm a regular there, but I've gone frequently enough to have a favorite sandwich (the … [Read more...]
A Tale of Two Choices
I hate it when there are two really cool things to do going on at the same time. It forces me to make a decision knowing that I'll feel a sense of loss for not being able to do both. That was the exact issue I faced on November 7, 2015. Bobby and I were in Cambridge, Ohio for the Sherlock Holmes Mystery Weekend. The first act was on Friday night, the second on Saturday morning and the third act was held on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Unfortunately, at the same time as the third act, Gerald … [Read more...]
