There is just something romantic about a castle. I thrill at the thought of visiting one in Europe some day. But I found that I don't need to go so far to be swept away. I discovered this during a recent visit to Landoll's Mohican Castle. The Castle is celebrating it's Kingdom of Lights this holiday season (November 17, 2018-January 6, 2019). They have decorated each building with lights and piped in Christmas music to put everyone in the holiday spirit. I found out about the event through … [Read more...]
Get Your ’80s On with Moonman TV
There are a lot of things from my adolescence that I don't care to remember. Junior High and High School are times that I think are best left in the past or at least the deep dark recesses of my mind. However, the music from that time of my life is still one of my favorite types. The 1980's top 40 pop with a few heavier metal songs, are my mojo if I want to get my heart pumping. And if you give me a Karaoke mic, well, you can probably guess that Love Shack will be a song that I select to sing, … [Read more...]
Owney’s Fun Observations at Barnes Preserve
It has been a long and uneventful summer for me. My parents, Bobby and Wendi Warren, have been busy with other things, that we haven't really gotten out to try new things. At least they haven't done so with me, too much. Oh, sure, I get to walk around the neighborhood at least two times a day and there has been plenty of laying out in the sun, too. But to actually go any place...well let's just say I haven't been invited. I think Mom was starting feel a little guilty, because on Friday, … [Read more...]
Firenza Pizza proves to be a wonderful surprise
Anyone who has read this blog for any length of time should know by now I love pizza, and the pizzas Wendi and I had at Firenza Pizza in Sandusky proved to be a wonderful surprise. We didn't want pizza for dinner (well, actually Wendi didn't; I can eat it any time), and we had no idea we would be eating dinner in Sandusky. Wendi and I were on our way to Marblehead, Ohio, to get away for a little bit. Normally, we take a vacation in the summer, but we had visited North Carolina, Georgia … [Read more...]
The Village Point Parlor Worth a Trip to Hayesville
Earlier this summer, my good friend, Jan Maxwell, tagged me in a post on Facebook about a new place in Hayesville, Ohio, that served pizza and ice cream. Hayesville is a small village just a few miles off of US Route 30. It looked like a place I'd like to visit, but honestly, though, I never heard of Hayesville... and my husband, Bobby, and I travel that stretch of highway a lot. It is funny the things you miss along the way to somewhere else. So when Jan and I made plans to meet up to … [Read more...]
