I love celebrating anniversaries. Well, honestly, I like celebrating anything. However, anniversaries are especially fun to celebrate. Gives me a chance to look back and see how the year has gone. So, you can probably guess how exciting it is for me to consider this anniversary. July marks a year since I began Wendi’s Weekend Trips and Whatnot. I can’t believe it has been a year! I have had a great time and I hope you have, too. But in case you are new to me or perhaps don’t remember, I want to share how this crazy, exciting, adventure I call my blog started.
So last July we (my husband, Bobby and I) were watching an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives where Guy Fieri is visiting a diner in East Amherst, NY. Their cheeseburger soup and hamburger looked so good. I jumped on the computer and mapquested how far the restaurant was from us. Turned out it wasn’t an unreasonable distance to travel for a weekend.
Well one thing led to another and what was just going to be a trip to the diner ended up being this awesome excursion to Grover’s (the diner), Niagara Falls and Jamestown, NY. When all was said and done, it was a 47 hour trip from dropping Owney off at my parent’s house and picking him a couple of days later.
Of course, that doesn’t really explain how my blog started. The next day or so after we got home I was walking Owney and the title of my blog just came to me. At the time Bobby had a blog called The Z Section and he had been trying to get me to start a blog, too. Up until then I didn’t think I had anything to write about. But that trip and that walk changed everything.
Now I am celebrating a year of fun and adventures. I am looking forward to this next year and how it will unfold. Yet, I hope you don’t mind indulging me as I repost some of my favorites over the next several days.
If you had a favorite post of mine, I would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment below.

I know what you are saying. Sometimes the best things really aren’t that planned out. I also think that if you are on the look out, you can be amazed, enchanted or inspired when you least expect it. I appreciate your comment. My next post might be a little different, but it is about something I felt compelled to share.
