June 2, 2016 began the 27th year that I have been celebrating my birthday for a week. While I began this tradition long before I met and married Bobby Warren, he has been the one to sustain it for so many years. He spoils me all year round, but especially the week of my birthday. This year I wanted to make sure that one of the things I did was have lunch at The Pines Golf Club restaurant with Bobby. I discovered the restaurant in January this year as my boss took us, the Performance, Compliance and Quality Improvement department from The Village Network, out for a late holiday lunch. I fell in love with the place!
They have an extensive menu, but I never order off of it. Instead I get their lunch buffet. The buffet isn’t huge, but it is complete. You can have your fill of salad, fruit, two soups, two main entrees, a potato and a vegetable. Plus they have chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter chip cookies, too. (Oh, there are rolls, available as well.) The buffet changes every day. So you never know what you’ll be having for lunch, but that is part of the fun. The buffet on this day, June 2, included homemade vegetable and chicken noodle soups, stuffed chicken breast in gravy, lasagna, red skin potatoes, and peas and carrots. Yum!
Over the last six months, I have been there several times. I have gone back with co-workers and other friends, but Bobby and I have never made it there. That is until Thursday. He picked me up from work and we drove the 10-15 minutes to the restaurant.
The setting is beautiful, it is a golf course after all. I wasn’t sure how busy it would be, since I have only been there when the weather wasn’t suitable for golf. However, it was a quiet day. Which is another thing I like about it. It isn’t this noisy place, where you can’t have a conversation without yelling. Colleen, our server said that the day before was a whole lot busier. It is really hard to gauge, but I suppose it has a lot to do with the weather.
Colleen shared that The Pines also has a deal for golfers that includes an 18 hole round of golf with golf cart, the lunch buffet and soft drink. She said the price was around $30. Again, I am not a golfer, but that sounds like a good deal to me. That is another great thing about The Pines. Their lunch buffet is very affordable. I have spent more for lunch at a fast food restaurant. The cost is just $8! Honestly where can you get such a deal like that?
So I finally got Bobby there and he agreed that not only is it a good place to get lunch, it was a good start to my birthday week celebration. I suggest you give it a try, too. You don’t have to wait until your birthday. Any day is good, as long as it is a Tuesday through Friday. They’re closed Mondays and they don’t do this buffet on Saturdays. I think they have a brunch on Sunday, but I haven’t been there for that…yet.
