I’m hijacking my mom’s blog again, cause I’ve just got to tell the world about my Thanksgiving. For those of you reading, who don’t know me, I’m Owney, a terrier-beagle mix, that has been living with Mom and Dad (Wendi and Bobby Warren) for the last 2 years.
Dad told Mom that I should write a blog about what I’m thankful for, which I will in a minute. But before I do, this Thanksgiving was extra special. As usual, we went to my Uncle Shaun’s and Aunt Randi’s house on Wednesday night. I got to spend time with my two border collie cousins, Parker and Admiral Nelson, and two other dogs, Louie and Zoey who were staying at my cousin’s while their parents were out of town.
While we were just chilling in the living room, my Dad took a picture of me with my Uncle Shaun. He then posted it on Facebook. I don’t have a Facebook page, but I guess a lot of people do. A friend of my Uncle’s, Tammy Kerstetter, saw the picture and through back and forth messages, it turns out that she knows my biological mother. Her name is Lady (pictured below in the middle). Turns out I have a couple of brothers, too! They are Arrow (left) and Bligh (right). I’m not sure, but I think that I might someday get to visit them. We were all very surprised. I even think Mom and Aunt Randi cried a little when they saw the picture of my biological mom that Kathy Kerstetter posted. She told me that she was glad I found a home. I am, too!
Which makes me want to tell the world–or at least those of you who read my mom’s blog–what I am thankful for:
- Doggie Day Care: My parents have been letting me go to Doggie Day Care at Cleveland Road Animal Hospital and Pet Hotel for a couple of years. They think it helps me burn off energy. I don’t know about that, ’cause when they come and pick me up, I can’t help but jump two feet off the ground and bark like crazy. But I do love going and spending time with my friends, Sam and Bijou and Oscar.
- Where’s My Toy? Game: My mom created this game especially for me. She puts one of the toys I love or a treat in a cardboard box and lets me work the box open to find it. Sometimes I can’t get the box open by the lid, so I just use my jaws and rip right through the cardboard. Mom calls me the destructionater sometimes, because of the way I tear up the box. It is so much fun, I wag my tail the whole time I’m playing.
- My Kitten Kirby: My mom thought it would be a good idea for me to have a playmate at home. The other cats, Buddy, Gracie, Fancy and Mr. Thomas, don’t really like to play with me. I don’t understand why. I’m loads of fun. But it took around a year of praying and waiting until the perfect kitten was found. Kirby is the best. He loves to play with me. We wrestle and run around the house like crazy. Sometimes we get a little rambunctious, but mostly we just have a great time. Then, when we are exhausted, we take a nap to rest up. Mom says he was an answer to her prayers.
- My Parents: No one, other than me, knows my whole history, but my home now is my fourth home. After a few stays at the Wayne County Humane Society, I have finally found a forever home. My parent’s just get me. They know I need to be engaged to keep from destroying their house. They know I need walks to burn up extra energy. They know I love to take rides in the car. They take care of all my needs, so I can just be a happy, healthy dog.
- Belly Rubs: I wasn’t gonna mention this, but really, how can a dog not say that he his thankful for belly rubs. My mom gives the best. She doesn’t mind sitting for hours and rubbing my belly while watching TV. She makes up songs to go along with them sometimes. That can be a little annoying, but hey, I get my belly rubbed, so I try not to complain.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. If you have anything exciting happen to you, Mom and me would love to hear about it in the comments below. Until next time!
