I've been the wife of Bobby Warren for close to 23 years. (We will celebrate our wedding anniversary in March.) Of those years, Bobby had been a reporter or editor of a newspaper for almost 18 years. As those of you know, who read this blog, his career as a writer for a print newspaper ended in January, which you can read about here. But other than occasionally, I've not had an inside look at what it means to be a reporter for a daily paper. That all changed on Thursday, February 1, 2018. That … [Read more...]
Owney’s Take on Malabar Farm
When my mom, Wendi Warren, asked me to fill in for her by writing a blog post, I wagged my tail like crazy. I love sharing with the readers of Wendi's Weekend Trips and Whatnot the fun things I get to do. Today is no exception. I am going to tell you about a recent visit Dad (Bobby), Mom and I took to Malabar Farm. On Saturday, February 18,the weather was so unusual that Mom told Dad we had to get out in it. Serving Up Blog Leftovers From 2016
Wow, we're in the year 2017! Seems like just the other day that we were in 2016.(I know, we were, I just think it is funny to say. I'm like my dad in that way.) So looking back over the year, I realize there were things we did but never wrote about, that I want to get off my whiteboard. Let me explain. Last year I bought a small white board (the kind that can go in a school locker) so my husband, Bobby, and I would be able to keep track of the posts we needed to write. We erase them from … [Read more...]
Will You Recognize This Blog After the New Year?
When Wendi started her blog in July 2015 after we returned from a trip to Niagara Falls, she came up with a title for a blog: Wendi's Weekend Trips & Whatnot. She had been thinking about starting a blog (and I encouraged her strongly to start one) for years, but she never could settle in on what the blog should be about. Until that trip. Everything clicked. For the past 18 months, the blog pretty much kept the same look, the same style, the same kinds of posts. But, now, things are changing. … [Read more...]
It’s a Wonderful Life, and I’m Glad You are Here
This is a great time of year to get to watch some of my favorite movies. I enjoy Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye in White Christmas. I love to watch the Muppets along with Michael Caine tell Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. Even Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer holds a special place in my heart. However, one of my most favorite Christmas movies is Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. I have watched that movie every year since I was a teenager. I can't imagine … [Read more...]
