I am fascinated by what blog posts readers of Wendi's Weekend Trips & Whatnot gravitate toward. Normally, I just peruse the site stats provided by WordPress, but I wanted to get a little more granular, so I ventured over to Google Analytics in order to view a particular timeframe. Basically, I wanted to know what blog posts were resonating with readers so far this year. This is what I discovered: You like food ... and so do we. Here are the Top 10 posts of 2017, so far ... Come In, Sit Down, Relax and Eat at The Parlor Restaurant
You know how there are places that you drive by all the time and you think to yourself, “Someday I’m going there.” The Parlor Restaurant in downtown Wooster is just such a place for me. Granted, since my 13-plus years of living in Wooster I have gone to The Parlor, but just not very often. Thanks to a co-worker, Angie Speigle, a group of us met early on a Friday morning for breakfast at The Parlor. (This is our second “quarterly” girl’s breakfast, although we somehow missed a quarter somewhere … [Read more...]
The Village Network’s Sweet Jubilation: Because Life’s Not So Sweet Sometimes
Saturday night, I had the chance to join my lovely wife, Wendi Warren, the founder of this blog, for a wonderful evening at The Village Network's Sweet Jubilation at the Shisler Center on the Wooster campus of Ohio State University. Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan Holds Up After 35 Years
You know it is going to be a good day when you get a call from your dad letting you know that there is a special showing of the greatest Star Trek movie of all time. Or maybe that's just me. Regardless, when I talked to my dad, Bud, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 about the Wrath of Khan playing at Wooster's Cinemark Movies 10, it was a no brainer that I would be there. I didn't ask any questions, other than what time it was showing. Turns out the reason for it was in celebration of its 35th … [Read more...]
Simply Having a Wonderful Wooster Time
When the city editor at The Daily Record, Jarred Opatz, went on vacation, I put in a lot of hours trying to fill his shoes. The job seemingly never ends, and I had a lot of overtime when he was gone. So, with Jarred back, I decided to take Friday off, and Wendi was able to get the day off, too. I wanted to go to Raising Cane's in Columbus (a place that specializes in hand-breaded, deep-fried chicken tenders), but Wendi preferred staying close to home. So, we compromised: We stayed close to … [Read more...]
