On Friday, March 4, 2016, Wendi and I will be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary. We have plans for the day: Head out to the Amish Heartland and enjoy a stay at the Berlin Grande Hotel. But, I was feeling good and wanted to cook Wendi a special dinner before our special day. I stopped at Buehler's on the way home thinking I would get some Certified Angus Beef top sirloin to cook and potatoes to bake. I picked up both of those items, but then I saw egg roll wrappers marked down. Then it hit … [Read more...]
The Sweetness of Doing Nothing…Or Blogging
When my husband, Bobby, and I got married, almost 21 years ago, I was a different person. I was a perfectionist with a streak of anal retentiveness mixed with a huge helping of anxiety and worry. If things weren't perfect...if I wasn't perfect it was a tragedy. Fast forward 21 years and I have changed...for the better, I think. I no longer get stressed out if I'm not early to a function. I can let myself go to bed with the kitchen in disarray. I can enjoy just relaxing while the house is … [Read more...]
I Found Great New York Bagels in Wooster, Ohio, at This Place …
Growing up in Revere, Mass., one of my best friends was Jay DellaPorta. I don't remember where his mother, Linda, would get bagels, but she would give us some of the best bagels around. True bagels are boiled; mass-produced bagels are steamed. Trust me, there's a difference. My wife, Wendi, … [Read more...]
A Doggie Day (Care) in Review
While my mom, Wendi, is busy getting ready for Christmas, I decided to hijack her blog once again. This time I want to talk about one of my favorite things. No, it's not rain drops on roses or whiskers on kittens...although I do like chasing kittens...but that isn't the same thing. It is Doggie Day Care. I'm lucky enough to get to go every Wednesday to day care at Cleveland Road Animal Hospital and Pet Hotel in Wooster, Ohio. Mom and Dad (Bobby) say that I need to go 'cause when I don't, I get … [Read more...]
Amish Country Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns Slideshow
Bobby and I spent all day Saturday driving through Holmes and Tuscarawas counties on the eighth annual Amish Country Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns. It was such a lovely event. All of the hotels and inns were beautiful, just the kinds of places for a nice get-a-way. The event continues Sunday, though tickets are no longer being sold. Here is a quick view of what we saw today. I will be writing more about the event, so check back often. … [Read more...]
