This month marks the one-year anniversary of my wife's blog, Wendi's Weekend Trips & Whatnot. It is a remarkable achievement when you realize she does this for fun as a creative outlet for her love of writing and holds down a full-time job dealing with performance, compliance and quality improvement for a very successful and impactful nonprofit agency in Wooster, Ohio. To say I am proud of what my wife, Wendi Warren, has achieved would be an understatement. Many writers deal with … [Read more...]
Owney: A Rose by Any Other Name, Still Smells Sweet (at Secrest Arboretum)
My mom, Wendi, recently celebrated her birthday week. My dad, Bobby, thought that even though she had gotten to do some really fun things (which you can read about a couple here and here) he really wanted to end the week with just the two of them. Well, you know how cute I can be, especially when I look at them with my "puppy dog" eyes. Add that to the fact that they had spent very little time at home during the week, which meant very little time with me, I convinced Dad that whatever "they" … [Read more...]
Great Birthday Celebration, I Mean It. Anybody Want a Peanut?
My birthday celebration this year was quite a production. It had been in the works for the better part of the year. Bobby had warned me to stay away from his emails, so I wouldn't see what he was planning. Ron went with Bobby, while Jan was made responsible for getting me to the event on time. What was the event, you … [Read more...]
Wing-ing it in Wooster at C.W. Burgerstein’s
It has been about a year since Dan Starcher told my husband, Bobby, that the best place in Wooster, Ohio to get wings, is C.W. Burgerstein's. We have been frequent flyers for wing night ever since. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, was no exception. On Wednesday, they run a special on their chicken wings. Ten wings are $5.99 and 25 wings are $11.99. We always order the larger size, because they're that good and they reheat great. I ordered 25 traditional wings, half with Tribe Honey BBQ and half … [Read more...]
Up(load) Periscope
I remember the first time I saw Periscope, a Twitter app that allows its users to stream video live, being used. It was during the Compassion Step Up walk. Parkview Christian Church's lead minister, Brian White, was using it while we were walking through each station. I was intrigued, but my first thought was, "Why doesn't Bobby, my husband, know about this." I am not tech savvy in the least. I might have a lot of tech kind of items, but it is only because Bobby has brought it home or … [Read more...]
