I have had some hard weeks before, but this past week (April 9-14) was an especially difficult. It started with dog sitting for my sister, Randi, in Lodi. I had been there since Thursday, April 6, but on Sunday, April 9, her dog, Parker, became quite ill. This meant spending most of the day in the Metropolitan Emergency Hospital in Akron. Thankfully, Parker is doing much better now. Next came a week full of deadlines and pressures, which is mostly unusual for my job. I felt I had already … [Read more...]
In a Word, St. Paul Hotel in Wooster is ‘Beautiful’
Have you ever wanted to see something but wasn't sure how you could make it happen? I have. Ever since St. Paul Hotel opened in Wooster, Ohio, I have been curious to see inside. Since we live here, there really is no reason to book a stay, so I figured the chances would be slim. However, in February, the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, held a Business After Hours event at the hotel. I knew I had finally gotten my chance to check it out! The hotel is beautiful. It is what is considered a … [Read more...]
Owney Didn’t Want His Trip to Freelander Park to End
When my parents, Bobby and Wendi Warren, celebrated their anniversary, they let me go to one of my favorite vacation spots, Grandpa and Grandma's house. (You might know them better as Bud and Dolores Breese.) While I love staying there, I still miss Mom and Dad a lot. I think they miss me too, because we seem to do something special after they pick me up. (If it isn't dark and they're not too tired.) So on Sunday, March 5,they decided to take me to a place I have never been. They called … [Read more...]
My Italian Husband likes this ‘Basil’ Restaurant
I have a confession to make. I am not a big Asian food fan. I like Chinese food, but I am pretty sure what I enjoy is its American-ized version. However, I don't really care for Thai or sushi or anything like that. When my husband Bobby told me that Basil, an Asian Bistro was coming to Wooster, it wasn't like I was jumping up and down to visit it. It has been open for four months and we finally did go. We met our friend, Greg Long, for lunch on Friday, September 30. When I walked into … [Read more...]
Cowhaus Creamery — Now Downtown Wooster has Artisan Ice Cream
Bobby, my husband, and I took a trip to Oberlin this past spring to try Cowhaus Creamery. (You can read about that trip here.)We did so because we had heard the owners, Joe Bomback and Debby Krejsa, were opening a location in downtown Wooster, Ohio. Unfortunately, they didn't open as quickly as anyone hoped -- them or us. But don't worry, they are open now! Bobby and I had the chance to try them out in their opening day, Friday, September 30th. Before we even stepped inside the … [Read more...]
