Spoon Market & Deli always brings out a different side in me, one my wife, Wendi, the founder of this blog, and other family members and friends don't get to see often. I am a picky eater. I like what I like. I don't stray too far. I am not one to try new things. I am not adventurous when it comes to food, except, when I go to Spoon Market & Deli. Don't ask me why, but I am willing to explore ... even if just a little bit. Such was the case with our visit on Friday. When it comes … [Read more...]
Fit by 50: Fact or Fiction?
Two years ago, right around my 48th birthday I thought to myself, "OK, you're going to be 50 in two years, why not make it your goal to be fit by 50." I thought taking it slow and giving myself 2 years sounded reasonable. Well... here we are and I am a scant 6 months from my birthday and "fit" isn't exactly a term I would use to describe me. Granted my husband, Bobby, and I started "running" in August, but I have not seen many changes to my physique. So what's a girl to do when faced with … [Read more...]
The Stories You Hear at the Long, Cook & Samsa Open House
One of the benefits I get by being Bobby Warren's wife is the opportunity to meet new people. Whenever we go anywhere in Wayne County, Bobby knows someone. He is always saying, "Have you met my wife, Wendi?" Because of Bobby's connections we have been blessed to get an invitation to Long, Cook & Samsa's Annual Christmas Open House. (Long, Cook & Samsa, Inc is a well established accounting firm in Wooster.) We joined what seemed like half the county this past Wednesday for the … [Read more...]
Seeing Washington, D.C., Through the Eyes of Veterans
Editor's Note: With Veterans Day today, we want to highlight this post from Aug. 28, 2016. We are grateful for the men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect our country, freedom and liberty. I come from a family of veterans. Only a couple served during war time, but they all took the oath and had the possibility of giving their lives. My grandfathers (Combs and Sartor) served in the Army during WWII. My dad, Bud, served in the Army during the Cold War. He has movies of the … [Read more...]
Come In, Sit Down, Relax and Eat at The Parlor Restaurant
You know how there are places that you drive by all the time and you think to yourself, “Someday I’m going there.” The Parlor Restaurant in downtown Wooster is just such a place for me. Granted, since my 13-plus years of living in Wooster I have gone to The Parlor, but just not very often. Thanks to a co-worker, Angie Speigle, a group of us met early on a Friday morning for breakfast at The Parlor. (This is our second “quarterly” girl’s breakfast, although we somehow missed a quarter somewhere … [Read more...]
