I started my blog over a year ago, but from the beginning my husband Bobby has been all in with me on it. That includes encouraging me to attend a blogging conference. He heard about the Bloggy Conference last fall (which was going to be at Cedar Point), and when tickets first went on sale, he bought them. So, since January we have had this weekend planned. We booked our hotel room at Hotel Breakers and then went about our blogging business. Now we are here and I am so excited. While I … [Read more...]
The Memorials that Help Us Remember 9/11
The first and only time I saw the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center was in 1989, when I rode with my parents as they drove to JFK International Airport. Our purpose for the trip was to drop my sister, Sonni, and her husband, Grady off with their three children, Ashley, Justin and Stefan so they could fly to Madrid, Spain. Grady was being deployed there for his duty as an airman in the United States Air Force. We had never been to New York City and decided a way to kill some time with … [Read more...]
End of Summer Reflections
Today, September 6, might be considered the unofficial end of Summer 2016 -- or beginning of Fall depending on if you think of Labor day as the end of Summer. Phew! But, it is a big deal if you have a number of aging veterans in wheelchairs at the top of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., when you hear the news. Wendi and I were blessed to travel with a group of veterans from Wayne and Holmes counties in Ohio to the nation's capital as part of the Honor Bus Trip, designed to take veterans to see the war memorials. Don Way of All-Ways Trans Plus … [Read more...]
Owney: Where I Go When My Parents are Out Gallivanting
My mom, Wendi, and my dad, Bobby, take a lot of trips. You might think it is because of Mom's blog, but really they've been doing this for as long as I've known them. Sometimes they are just day trips. Sometimes they are longer trips. I'm not sure why I don't get to go along with them. I mean I'm just a 25 pound dog. I don't take up too much space or anything. O.K. I will admit that I'm not the most obedient dog around. I will pull them when we walk. I also know they think I bark too much, but, … [Read more...]
