Well, Wendi and I got there in time, sort of. My wife, Wendi, the founder of this blog, was scheduled to give a presentation on the Council of Accreditation's annual conference at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan. Wendi's Aunt Pam and our friend, Jan Maxwell, told us we had to go to Carnegie Deli. The place attracts a lot of tourists, and there seems to always be a line out front of patrons waiting to get in. We were among them one hot July night. When I read on NPR's website a … [Read more...]
Five Reasons I am Glad I Chose Columbus Airport
It used to be that my go-to airport was Akron-Canton. We could hope a plane and in less than two hours we'd be in Boston . This was great because my husband's family lives near Boston. But we can't do that anymore due to mergers in the airline industry. Thankfully, I have found a new favorite airport, the John Glenn International Airport. I never been on a ferry before. What I didn't realize is that the ferries operated by Miller Boat Line travel across Lake Erie to get to Put-In-Bay (and other destinations. Hey, I am a dog, don't judge me.) I probably should explain, water really isn't my friend. My parents know this because within the first month of … [Read more...]
How Did Owney, a Dog, Land a Writing Gig?
I know, I am not your typical beagle-terrier mix. I mean how many dogs do you know who are regular contributors on a blog? But even I am surprised by the twists and turns my life takes sometimes. A case in point is the recent invitation to travel to Put-in-Bay and then write about it. Let me back up a bit. My parents, Bobby and Wendi, recently left me at my vacation home (aka Grandma's and Grandpa's house) to go to a blogging conference. (Dad wrote about it and what he learned. You can … [Read more...]
