When I was growing up I remember watching a few episodes of the Andy Griffith Show during the summer. It was on at Noon, so while I was eating lunch I watched the show. It has been years since I had seen an episode. That is until recently. My husband, Bobby, and I have a access to Amazon Prime. Disney Plus and Netflix, so we have gotten in the habit of binge watching TV series. Recently we've watched Counterparts and Jack Ryan on Amazon, The Mandalorian on Disney Plus and Longmire on Netflix. … [Read more...]
Fog Can’t Stop The Music on the Steamboat Natchez
When my husband, Bobby, and I were going to New Orleans, I knew that we had to hear live music. I mean seriously, New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz music and Louis Armstrong. The only question was where we would listen to it. I don't think Bobby would have minded if we ended up in some club on Bourbon Street, but that really isn't my type of thing. Instead I talked him into going on a riverboat cruise that also had a live band. Well, actually, it was Bob Adamov who told Bobby we needed to go … [Read more...]
See New Orleans From a Newbie’s Eyes
As I start this post, I have been in New Orleans for a total of 20 hours. That's from the touchdown of the airplane til now. Coming from Ohio the first thing to stand out was obviously the weather. The next thing to stand out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the citizens. I must look like I am clueless, which isn't far from … [Read more...]
Girl’s Day Out – Medina County Edition
Getting out with my sister, Randi, and my mom, Dolores, is something that I really like to do. It doesn't happen as often as I would want. Realizing that I was going to have some time off from work in early January seemed like the perfect time to get a "Girl's Day Out" on the calendar. It was a week earlier than Mom's birthday, but she was good to go with the flow. We decided to stay nearby and visit shops in Medina that are on or near the square. The day started off, however, in downtown … [Read more...]
See Nation’s First Presidential Museum In Ohio
I was never much interested in history when I was a kid. Well, I did buy a book about Abraham Lincoln from Scholastic Books in the 4th grade, but other than that, history was boring. But now, as an adult in my middle years, I have become fascinated with history. I think a large part is due to the face that I have been listening to historical fiction lately. I spent several weeks reading the Gilbert Morris Appomattox Saga, which for those of you like me, who didn't know anything about Appomattox, … [Read more...]
