There are many fun things I get to do because I want to have things to write about on this blog. I have dragged my husband, Bobby, to all kinds of new places and he has done the same to me (when there has been a dry spell with no new content). One of the best things I get to do is go to ice cream shops. But you better believe there is something a little bit special about visiting one that is owned by a family member. A couple of years ago, my parents visited my Aunt Pam in Florida. They … [Read more...]
Zaxby’s Better than Raising Cane’s?
I've taken the whole vacation thing a little too far. I mean really I'm on vacation, but I do blog about weekend trips and whatnot so you think I would be writing a little bit more. So as I sit here in one restaurant, I'd like to tell you about another restaurant. We can probably say this is our vacation of chicken fingers. It started with our trip to get dinner on Thursday night in Columbus at Raising Cane's chicken finger restaurant. You can read about Bobby's take on it here. Well once … [Read more...]
Finally Reached Raising Cane’s, and So Glad We Did
I can't tell you how many years have passed since I first learned about Raising Cane's and the day I tasted my first chicken finger from the restaurant. I do know I ate my first meal at Raising Cane's on March 29, 2018. It was a great Thursday before Good Friday. Wendi and I had left our home in Wooster, and we were slowly making our way down to Florida for a wedding. Our actual dinner plans involved eating the famed Certified Angus Beef ribeye steak at the Scioto Ribber in Portsmouth, … [Read more...]
The Original Steaks & Hoagies Opens in Fairlawn on National Cheesesteak Day
A year or so ago, Bobby and I decided to take a day trip that landed us in Twinsburg, Ohio so that we could try a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Bobby had done a search for the best Philly Cheesesteak in Ohio and The Original Steaks & Hoagies was by far the most recommended. (You can read about the adventure here.) One of the owners saw Bobby's post and put it on the company's website. Bobby saw that and they became Facebook friends. Because of that, one of the owners, Jeff Wiseman, … [Read more...]
Certified Angus Beef: A Look at New Meat Lab & Dining Room
Finding myself in Wooster's north end on a Wednesday afternoon, I texted my former colleague at The Daily Record, and now marketing manager for Certified Angus Beef brand, Bryan Schaaf. In January, I launched a digital marketing business, Wooster Media Group LLC, and I thought I might pay a visit to my old friend. Certified Angus Beef is a nonprofit organization formed by the American Angus Association to promote good, quality Angus beef. The quest for producing the best tasting beef came … [Read more...]
