O.K. I never, ever thought I would be sad to not have traveled to New York City in the summer. But after watching several of our friends post pictures on Facebook about their travels to the Big Apple...well, let's just say I was more than slightly jealous. Adding salt to the wound is just about every TV show we have watched lately have been filmed in NYC. Every establishing shot, either my husband, Bobby, or I will say, "We've been there." As a way to deal with my melancholy for not having … [Read more...]
Celebrating Spring at Charles Mill Lake Park and Dam
I have heard people complain about the weather and what appears to be the delay of spring. On the one hand I agree with them. When the weather is nice, I get to go outside and lay down in the sun. That is one of my favorite things to do. On the other hand, though, when the weather is nice, my mom, Wendi, gets it in her head that we (Dad, me and her) need to get out and enjoy the nice day. That is all fine and good, because I agree with her -- until she wears me out! Saturday, April 21 is … [Read more...]
Couples Date Event at Parkview Christian Church Scores Big

By doing so, we have gotten out of our normal, everyday life and away from things that would … [Read more...]

Friday was a long day, and I was so worn down that I did not want to run in the fifth annual Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank Selfless Elf 5K, a fundraiser to feed the hungry. I put in a full day at The Daily Record newspaper before heading out for a magic show deep into Amish Country, which required travel over snow-covered, narrow, winding and hilly township roads. It took me about 55 minutes to make a 33-minute trip. And, then I had to drive home after the magic show. I was tired and hungry … [Read more...]
Wooster’s Window Wonderland — A New Tradition for Me?
O.K. I know that Wooster has been having an Window Wonderland for 29 years. I know this because my husband, Bobby, wrote about it for his day job at The Daily Record. (You can read his promo story here or see photos from the event here.): Window Wonderland was started by Main Street Wooster, and the first year members sold wreaths for front doors of downtown businesses. Candles were put in windows and lit. Santa visited the city that first year and every year … [Read more...]
