My husband, Bobby, often tells people he is from "severe Revere" [Massachusetts]. I'm not sure what he means by this, other than that must have been what he and his friends called it when he was growing up in the city just north of Boston. (Really, it's part of Boston like Euclid is part of Cleveland.) Bobby is the second child and first boy in his family. His father is from an anglo-saxon background and his mother is second generation Italian born in the USA. Bobby's parents separated when he … [Read more...]
Digsby’s Keeps Tastes of When in Rome Restaurant Alive
You know a restaurant is going to be good when as soon as you walk in you start to salivate -- or be reminded of a great restaurant you visited in the past. That was the case for my husband, Bobby, and me on Saturday, December 16, 2017. We had just come from a magic show Bobby performed in Barberton (yes, he is a real, live magician you can check out his website here). Bobby never eats before a show and, therefore, neither do I. By the time we were heading back to Wooster, we were pretty … [Read more...]
Luigi’s: Iconic Akron Eatery Worth the Trip (and the Wait)
I don't remember the first time I had pizza. Being a child of the 70's, I am sure it was probably a Chef Boyardee box mix. I also grew up with D'Antonio's pizza in Lodi. Which if you ask me, is the best, but I can't tell you when I had my first pizza from there. But my dad, Bud, can tell you the exact year and place where he had pizza for the very first time. It was at Luigi's Pizza in Akron, Ohio in 1956. This year, for my husband Bobby's birthday, he wanted to go to Luigi's with my parents, so … [Read more...]
Bobby’s Birthday Bash Takes Detour
December 7 is known as the "date that will live in infamy" due the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which catapulted the United States into World War II. It is a date that is remembered every year in the Warren household, as well. Not because of the tragedy in Hawaii, but because it is also the birthday of my husband, Bobby. (Although the two events didn't occur in the same year -- that would be gross to marry someone that much older than me!) However, both events are remembered with traditions. … [Read more...]
The Stories You Hear at the Long, Cook & Samsa Open House
One of the benefits I get by being Bobby Warren's wife is the opportunity to meet new people. Whenever we go anywhere in Wayne County, Bobby knows someone. He is always saying, "Have you met my wife, Wendi?" Because of Bobby's connections we have been blessed to get an invitation to Long, Cook & Samsa's Annual Christmas Open House. (Long, Cook & Samsa, Inc is a well established accounting firm in Wooster.) We joined what seemed like half the county this past Wednesday for the … [Read more...]
