Editor's note: This blog post has been updated to include comments about the biscuits and gravy. Wooster has a new restaurant in town, Biscuit Uprising. The biscuit-themed restaurant is the brainchild of the same foodies who gave us Smoke the Burger Joint, Old Carolina BBQ, and Baja West Coast Kitchen -- friends Tim Hug and Brian Bailey, founders of the Ichor Restaurant Group. Biscuit Uprising is on Beall Avenue, occupying the same space that formerly housed Smoke. Hug and Bailey write … [Read more...]
Kenwood Acres Trail A Nice Easy Walk Through Nature
I love it when my parents, Bobby and Wendi Warren, are home for the weekend without any plans. That usually means they will make it a point to do something with me. As a dog, I'm pretty spoiled, ever since I was adopted into my forever home by Mom and Dad. But still, getting to get out and try new places, is one of my favorite things to do. That happened on a recent Saturday, when we took a ride out to Wooster Memorial Park's new trail at Kenwood Acres. As it happened, when Mom and Dad … [Read more...]
Gouda Bar & Grill was Very Goud(a), but now it’s Closed
Update: Gouda Bar & Grill might have been very good, but as of Feb. 16, 2019, it is also very closed. Word spread on Facebook about the closing, and today a friend of Bobby's posted on Facebook a picture of the restaurant with the front windows papered over. A lot of people searching for Gouda landed on this blog post because the place didn't have a website, just a Facebook page. It was the second-most popular page on this website, behind Six Things You Need to do in Minerva. Here is the … [Read more...]

I'm not a big deli person. I like sandwiches just fine, but I'm talking roast beef or turkey or ham. I don't need pastrami or corn beef or anything exotic. So I was not overly enthusiastic when my husband, Bobby, suggested we try Mr. Zub's Deli and Bar. We were in Akron to attend the inauguration of Frank LaRose as Secretary of State on a recent snowy Saturday. I guess I'm still a little leery of delis after my time at Carnegie Deli in New York City. Let's just say I was not very impressed. … [Read more...]
Some Enchanted Evening at Landoll’s Mohican Castle
There is just something romantic about a castle. I thrill at the thought of visiting one in Europe some day. But I found that I don't need to go so far to be swept away. I discovered this during a recent visit to Landoll's Mohican Castle. The Castle is celebrating it's Kingdom of Lights this holiday season (November 17, 2018-January 6, 2019). They have decorated each building with lights and piped in Christmas music to put everyone in the holiday spirit. I found out about the event through … [Read more...]
