My sister, Randi, and her husband, Shaun, are people that once they commit to something, they are committed. That is something I admire about them. However, when they said they were going to tackle a half marathon, I thought they were crazy. You see, if you are new to my blog, I am on the opposite of athletic. In fact, if you see me running, you better run, too, because something is chasing me. (I stole that from Facebook.) But Randi and Shaun accepted the challenge to run the Rite Aid … [Read more...]
Band of Brothers See Dream Theater, Yet Again
Shawn LaDouceur has been a good friend since we met at Daytona Beach Community College, probably in 1988. Though much younger, he has had an impact on me. His influence helped me decide to become a Christian, and he introduced me to my favorite band of all time, Dream Theater. Shawn had been attending Cincinnati Bible College in the 1992-93 academic year, and when he came home in the summer of 1993, one of the first things he did was to play "Pull Me Under" from the first Dream Theater … [Read more...]
I’m Someone Special at Special Person Day
When my niece, Ashley, told me that my great-nephew, Noah, was having a Special Person day at his school and that he wanted me and Uncle Bobby, my husband, to come, I was thrilled. Bobby and I took the day off to drive the 2 hours to go to Montrose Elementary School … [Read more...]
Owney: How I Spent My Birthday Weekend
Ever since my mom, Wendi, started her blog last year in July, my parents (Bobby and Wendi) go away a lot on day trips. Sometimes they take me to my grandma's and grandpa's, (Bud and Dolores), but often they make me stay at home. Don't get me wrong, I like my home. I have plenty of comfortable chairs to sleep on, clean water, good food and a window to look out at the passing traffic. Plus I have four cats to chase and bark at if I get a little bored. Still, sometimes I really want to go with … [Read more...]
Daring to Dive on Cedar Point’s Newest Coaster
I have always loved roller coasters. The anticipation climbing the first hill to the exhilarating feeling on the descent to the twisting turns and loops and then the final screeching halt right before returning to the launching platform. They all get me. Even the worst roller coaster is still pretty good (just like pizza.) However, when I ride a really good coaster, the feeling lasts a little longer and I enjoy reliving it with friends. This is exactly what happened when I was able to be … [Read more...]
