When my parents, Bobby and Wendi Warren, told me I had been asked to write about my experience on Miller's Ferry from Catawba Island to Put-In-Bay, I was really excited. I never been on a ferry before. What I didn't realize is that the ferries operated by Miller Boat Line travel across Lake Erie to get to Put-In-Bay (and other destinations. Hey, I am a dog, don't judge me.) I probably should explain, water really isn't my friend. My parents know this because within the first month of … [Read more...]
My Italian Husband likes this ‘Basil’ Restaurant
I have a confession to make. I am not a big Asian food fan. I like Chinese food, but I am pretty sure what I enjoy is its American-ized version. However, I don't really care for Thai or sushi or anything like that. When my husband Bobby told me that Basil, an Asian Bistro was coming to Wooster, it wasn't like I was jumping up and down to visit it. It has been open for four months and we finally did go. We met our friend, Greg Long, for lunch on Friday, September 30. When I walked into … [Read more...]
Downtown Wooster Transforming into Foodie Destination
Wendi and I had a chance to visit two new downtown Wooster eateries on Friday: One an Asian-fusion restaurant, and the other an artisan ice cream and sorbet company. Basil is the Asian-fusion restaurant. We enjoyed lunch with Greg Long, and he introduced us to owner Anthony "Tony" Ly. The restaurant, an anchor store in the Merchant Block development, is beautiful inside, and the dishes were beautiful and delicious. The artisan ice cream shop? None other than Cowhaus Creamery, which … [Read more...]
How Did Owney, a Dog, Land a Writing Gig?
I know, I am not your typical beagle-terrier mix. I mean how many dogs do you know who are regular contributors on a blog? But even I am surprised by the twists and turns my life takes sometimes. A case in point is the recent invitation to travel to Put-in-Bay and then write about it. Let me back up a bit. My parents, Bobby and Wendi, recently left me at my vacation home (aka Grandma's and Grandpa's house) to go to a blogging conference. (Dad wrote about it and what he learned. You can … [Read more...]
Check Out this Eatery When Visiting Geneva On The Lake
Did you catch my post on a recent day trip we took to Geneva State Park? We, being my husband Bobby, my parents, Bud and Dolores and my niece and great nephew, Aya and Ameareka. We spent a good deal of time at the park, which is beautiful, clean and a lot of fun -- though it was very hot that day. After exhausting ourselves at the beach and working up an appetite, we needed to find some kind of eatery. Geneva On The Lake, which is a short drive from the state park, has no shortage of options to … [Read more...]
