I don't remember the first time I had pizza. Being a child of the 70's, I am sure it was probably a Chef Boyardee box mix. I also grew up with D'Antonio's pizza in Lodi. Which if you ask me, is the best, but I can't tell you when I had my first pizza from there. But my dad, Bud, can tell you the exact year and place where he had pizza for the very first time. It was at Luigi's Pizza in Akron, Ohio in 1956. This year, for my husband Bobby's birthday, he wanted to go to Luigi's with my parents, so … [Read more...]
Bobby’s Birthday Bash Takes Detour
December 7 is known as the "date that will live in infamy" due the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which catapulted the United States into World War II. It is a date that is remembered every year in the Warren household, as well. Not because of the tragedy in Hawaii, but because it is also the birthday of my husband, Bobby. (Although the two events didn't occur in the same year -- that would be gross to marry someone that much older than me!) However, both events are remembered with traditions. … [Read more...]
Junior’s Restaurant in NYC Proves to be an Excellent Choice
When we visited New York City this past August, every day was a busy day. Wendi, the founder of this blog, and I made the journey with Randi and Shaun Vahl (Randi is Wendi's sister). We averaged 10 miles a day walking, and it was always grueling. On Aug. 22, we began the day walking forever to pick up a ferry ride to Brooklyn. Part of the walk included a trip on the High Line, elevated train tracks converted into a walking trail. The day would take us to Ground Zero (you can read about an … [Read more...]
The Cake Boss in Manhattan has the Best What?
Cannolis. There, I said it. Carlo's Bake Shop on Eighth Avenue in Manhattan has the best cannoli I have ever eaten. My wife Wendi, the founder of this blog, and I traveled to New York City, staying at the Hyatt Centric off Times Square, this past summer. We traveled with Wendi's sister and her husband, Randi and Shaun Vahl. We were walking all over the place (we literally averaged 10 miles a day while in the city), and on one of the nights we walked past Carlo's Bake Shop. I … [Read more...]
Bella Sera Restaurant Offers Beautiful Evening Out
My husband, Bobby, and I really enjoy the Food Network's show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Mostly because it gives us a look at out-of-the-ordinary types of food and because the restaurants are unique and well loved by the locals. Probably because we like to try new places, we jumped at the chance to join our friends, Ron and Jan Maxwell, in trying Bella Sera Pizzeria and Ristorante in Massillon, Ohio. The Maxwell's had not been to the restaurant either. They had heard about the pizzeria … [Read more...]
