My husband, Bobby, and I recently attended the FinCon Expo in Washington, D.C., where Bobby wanted to learn more about blogging, digital marketing, and scaling an online business. I was there to learn more about launching a podcast. We hit a few nice places to eat while in D.C., and when Bobby learned that my aunt and uncle who live in Greencastle, Pa., were going to drive into the nation's capital to pick us up (instead of at a train station in Maryland), he really wanted to treat them to a … [Read more...]
Side Trips Provide Sites to See Within Our Sights
When my husband, Bobby, and I took our trip to Pennsylvania, we had in mind some things to do. While I am usually the trip planner, this time Bobby did the planning. But even still, we always seem to do or see additional things on our way to the planned visits. Things that maybe catch our eye or something that someone we meet recommends to us to check out. The trip to Pennsylvania was no different. While we were waiting for our tour guide, Mark Brugh, in Sharpsburg, Maryland, we walked … [Read more...]
Guide Makes Civil War Come Alive at Antietam National Battlefield
What had begun as an overcast and sometimes rainy morning, turned into a beautiful, if not slightly warm day, when my husband, Bobby, and I visited the Antietam National Battlefield outside of Sharpsburg, Maryland. Not being too familiar with the specific battles of the Civil War (outside of Gettysburg), I didn't fully understand what we were going to see or learn on our excursion. We had already spent a little time in Sharpsburg on the Sharpsburg Civil War Ghost Tour with Mark Brugh, … [Read more...]
Historian Weaves Ghostly Tales on Civil War Tour
When I told my husband, Bobby, that I wanted to visit my Aunt Kim and Uncle Jay in Greencastle, Pennsylvania for a weekend sometime this year, I hadn't expected him to suggest the upcoming weekend. But that is what he did. Due to the fact that I was working for the week, the travel plans were up to him. (He had taken a week of vacation.) I would have never thought of going on a ghost tour, so I am glad he planned things. It turned out that Mark Brugh's Sharpsburg Civil War Ghost Tour was a … [Read more...]
One Busy Friday We Spent in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia
What began with one planned event, a 90 minute tour, turned into a day long adventure. My husband, Bobby, and I took a long weekend to visit my Aunt Kim and Uncle Jay in Pennsylvania near the Maryland State border. It was one of our favorite ways to go -- impromptu -- no set plans. Well, that isn't exactly true. Bobby did schedule us for a tour in Sharpsburg, Maryland, but that was it. Except that wasn't it at all. Here is a brief overview of our day. We will be writing more about each … [Read more...]
