A funny thing happened on the way to Cedar Point recently. Bobby, my husband, and I were traveling U.S. Route 250 going to Cedar Point's media event for the opening of their newest coaster, Valravn. (You can read about that adventure by clicking here.) Just a little before the Ashland County line (so still in Wayne County), we saw the sign for an ice cream shop, Scoops Sweet-Treats & More. We didn't have time to stop for ice cream, but we made a mental note that we would come back and give … [Read more...]
With a Name Like Smith’s, the Ice Cream Better Be Off the Charts
If you have followed Wendi's blog for any length of time, then you know we love ice cream. We love Graeter's, Mitchell's, Chill Artisan Ice Cream, Pav's Creamery and Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. When we go to Buehler's Fresh Foods in Wooster for ice cream, it is usually for a pint of Graeter's or a half gallon of Buehler's, Smith's or Ruggles ice cream. Smith Dairy in Orrville makes the ice cream sold under Buehler's name, as well as under its name and the Ruggles name. On a recent to trip to … [Read more...]
Jeni’s (Really, Really) Splendid Ice Cream
Ice Cream isn't technically one of the major four food groups, but in my house it is rare that we don't have some in the freezer. That is partly due to the fact we visited Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream in the Short North area of … [Read more...]
A Perfect Date in Columbus
My husband, Bobby, and I always have a great time together. Well, I should say usually, because there are times when I am...let's say a wee bit moody. But most of the time that isn't the case. So having a perfect date is not out of the ordinary. (Hey, maybe that is why I started this blog.) Saturday, March 19, 2016, was another great time away. It all started when I found out that a friend of ours, Audrey Lombardo, was performing in a community theater production in Grove City, Ohio. … [Read more...]
Chill and Try Some Artisan Ice Cream
The date was Saturday, February 13, 2016. The event was the Medina Ice Festival. The temperature was 16 degrees, with a real feel of 8 degrees. The weather was snowy, not blizzard conditions, but it was coming down pretty good. That is when Bobby, my husband, and I found Chill, an Artisan Ice Cream Company on the square in downtown Medina, Ohio. I do not subscribe to the idea that it can be "too cold" for ice cream. Actually I don't even believe that you can be "too full" for ice cream. … [Read more...]
