During our recent trip to Pennsylvania, Bobby, my husband, and I, along with my Uncle Jay and Aunt Kim, finally visited the birthplace of James Buchanan, the 15th president of the United States. I say finally because ever since we have been visiting Jay and Kim, Bobby has expressed the desire to stop and check the historical site out. I had resisted, not because I have anything against James Buchanan (I honestly didn't know much about him), but because it seemed inconvenient. His birthplace is … [Read more...]
Historian Weaves Ghostly Tales on Civil War Tour
When I told my husband, Bobby, that I wanted to visit my Aunt Kim and Uncle Jay in Greencastle, Pennsylvania for a weekend sometime this year, I hadn't expected him to suggest the upcoming weekend. But that is what he did. Due to the fact that I was working for the week, the travel plans were up to him. (He had taken a week of vacation.) I would have never thought of going on a ghost tour, so I am glad he planned things. It turned out that Mark Brugh's Sharpsburg Civil War Ghost Tour was a … [Read more...]
One Busy Friday We Spent in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia
What began with one planned event, a 90 minute tour, turned into a day long adventure. My husband, Bobby, and I took a long weekend to visit my Aunt Kim and Uncle Jay in Pennsylvania near the Maryland State border. It was one of our favorite ways to go -- impromptu -- no set plans. We will be writing more about each … [Read more...]
Visiting Civil War Sites via Greencastle, Pa. … Again
Back in 2014, Dream Theater (my favorite band), was playing outside Pittsburgh. My wife, Wendi, thought it would be nice to get me tickets so we could see the show (she is not a fan of the band, though she does appreciate their musicianship). While in Pennsylvania, we decided to visit Wendi's Uncle Jay and Aunt Kim in Greencastle first, then make our way back to Pittsburgh for the show a few days later. Wendi and I enjoyed visiting family and Civil War sites, namely Gettysburg. I have to … [Read more...]
Visiting Boston? Then You Have to Visit This Place
We (my husband Bobby and I) have been flying into Boston's Logan International Airport for over 20 years. We have seen many renovations to the airport since we started flying together. This includes the hallway that shows the impact of NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration). There is also a huge picture of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America. President Kennedy was a huge proponent of NASA and he is also from Massachusetts. Part of the … [Read more...]
