When Bobby told me he bought a pan to make pressure cooker cheesecake, my first thought was, "Why?" I know he likes to try new things in the kitchen, but seriously, who ever heard of a cheesecake that is made in a pressure cooker? So I was a bit apprehensive. Still, I know that when Bobby sets his mind to something, he is kind of like a dog with a bone. I figured if it turned out badly, then no harm was done. The other interesting thing about this whole cheesecake thing, is that he … [Read more...]
A 40-year Brumance with @Springsteen
This is about a Brumance. As a freshman at Ohio University in 1978, walking down the dorm hall, I heard it. A guitar rip that stopped me in my tracks. My RA’s door was open. I asked, “Who’s that?” It was Bruce Springsteen, and it was Born to Run. It was the album, but more importantly to my music future, it was “Born to Run,” the song. I’d heard of him, but didn’t know him. I do now, nearly 40 years later, at least as much as a fan can know someone she’s never met. I’ve … [Read more...]
Locked in on Fun: Escape Room Wooster
Imagine you willingly lock yourself in a room with nine of your friends and you have 45 minutes to figure out a mystery to get out. That is how I spent Saturday night, November 5, 2016. My husband, Bobby, and I helped celebrate our good friend, Jan Maxwell's birthday. Her husband Ron arranged for us to enjoy the experience at Unlocked: Escape Room Wooster. So I am obviously not going to give anything away in this post about what happens when you attend an event. But I will say it isn't as … [Read more...]
Oh-Oh-Oh, It’s Magic
My husband, Bobby, is a magician who routinely performs shows throughout North East Ohio. That means that he gets paid to perform magic, usually. There are times when he does just perform for the fun of it. This is what happened when we ended up visiting our niece, Nicole, at her apartment on the campus of North Eastern University. We were there so that Nicole could help our other niece, Courtney, with something for school. While they were working on it in her bedroom, Bobby, Michelle … [Read more...]
Great Birthday Celebration, I Mean It. Anybody Want a Peanut?
My birthday celebration this year was quite a production. It had been in the works for the better part of the year. Bobby had warned me to stay away from his emails, so I wouldn't see what he was planning. Well the day finally arrived when all his hard work paid off and he proved once again that he is fully awesome. He dropped me off at our good friends house, the Maxwell's. Ron went with Bobby, while Jan was made responsible for getting me to the event on time. What was the event, you … [Read more...]
