Update: Owner Tim DeRodes made the difficult decision to close all three Jake's locations: Ashland, Mount Vernon and Wooster. We wish him well, and we hope his staff can find employment. As any reader of this blog will know, I am a huge burger fan. I enjoy going to different restaurants and trying their hamburgers. I usually opt for a bacon cheeseburger, if truth be told. So, when I go to Jake's Steakhouse in Wooster, Ohio, that is usually what I get. Jake's not only has good burgers, … [Read more...]
Woosterfest 2019 from a Foodie’s Perspective
It was a beautiful September afternoon when my husband, Bobby, suggested we visit downtown Wooster for the 36th Annual Wooster Fest. When I arrived there, I didn't see any bone-in chicken. I asked if they were cooking some chicken. I discovered BellStores made the … [Read more...]

A couple of years ago I saw a link on Facebook about the best fried chicken restaurant you never heard of ... because you can only find it at convenience stores or gas stations. Krispy Krunchy Chicken, a Louisiana-style fried chicken akin to Popeye's chicken, is that restaurant, and when Wendi and I finally made it to one, the "restaurant" did not disappoint. So, I had read a blog post on Thrillist a couple years ago about this awesome fried chicken restaurant, and I really wanted to try … [Read more...]
