I have a confession to make. I am a chocoholic. They say that the first step is admitting you have a problem. I know I have a problem, but I just don't want to quit! Thankfully, God blessed me with a man who truly understands me. My husband, Bobby, is the reason that I was able to meet Joe Miller, the owner of Gorant Chocolatier in Boardman, Ohio. Friday, August 12, 2016 was the day when Bobby and I got a private tour of Gorant's factory by its own Willy Wonka. Although he didn't have a purple … [Read more...]
Schnipper’s: A New York Restaurant That is My Kind of Place
When my husband, Bobby and I traveled to New York City in July, we had the opportunity to try plenty of places to eat. Some we had planned to go--like Serendipity 3. We also had an idea of what we wanted to get in New York - - like New York style pizza, "real" bagels and something from a street vendor. (FYI regarding the street vendors, they cost too much - - or at least they do outside of the American Museum of Natural History.) But most of the time, we were just going with the flow. … [Read more...]
The Melting Pot, Quite the Dining Experience
One of my friends from work, Jessica Robinson, has talked about how good The Melting Pot is for as long as we have worked in the same department. Her descriptions made me curious to give it a try. However, it wasn't until I saw a Groupon offer for the Melting Pot, did I finally act on the curiosity. The next hurdle was to make time to go. It is in Lyndhurst, Ohio (at least where this Groupon was good for) and that is over 1 hour from where we live. Then my husband, Bobby's, schedule is so … [Read more...]
Happy B-Lated B-day, Burger!
It wasn't until late Thursday night, July 28, that I found out I missed the birthday of the hamburger. That is the date when Louis Lassen in 1900 served the first hamburger sandwich. (It was out of Louis' Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut.) Turns out that we were there on July 27, 2011--but I didn't know it was the birthday then, either. I felt kind of like I did when I realized I had missed National Ice Cream day (July 17). Not exactly sad, but a little disappointed in myself that I hadn't … [Read more...]
What Began It All: A Trip to Niagara Falls
I love celebrating anniversaries. Well, honestly, I like celebrating anything. However, anniversaries are especially fun to celebrate. Gives me a chance to look back and see how the year has gone. So, you can probably guess how exciting it is for me to consider this anniversary. July marks a year since I began Wendi's Weekend Trips and Whatnot. I can't believe it has been a year! I have had a great time and I hope you have, too. But in case you are new to me or perhaps don't remember, I want to … [Read more...]
