As the founder of a blog that's all about weekend trips and visiting new places, I know there is something comforting about returning to places you have been before. This is true for my husband, Bobby, and me when it comes to the Amish Heartland in Holmes County, Ohio. We love to just take a car ride down to Berlin, Walnut Creek and Sugarcreek. We have places that we visit every time, mostly because we know what we like when we go there. For instance, in Sugarcreek, we always go to Swiss … [Read more...]
Brunch Buffet by Cleveland Hopkins Airport Is the ‘Bomb’
My husband, Bobby, has been known to spoil me a time or two, especially on my birthday week. This year was no exception. We did a lot of great things, not the least of which, was enjoy Sunday Brunch at the 100th Bomb Group near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. This turned out to be a delightful surprise, for both of us. After church on June 4, Bobby said he wanted us to go away for the day. His original plan was to take me to a hamburger place in Delaware, Ohio. When he was … [Read more...]
Revisiting Penn Station East Coast Subs
When Wendi and I were students at what is now Cincinnati Christian University, one of the places we enjoyed going to grab a bite to eat was Penn Station East Coast Subs. Wally Waffle Weally Wonderful

We did a lot of fun things (which you can read about here and here and here and here). One place we ended up was Wally Waffle in Akron. Little did we know we would arrive during some kind of Summit County stage festival, which meant we could not park by the restaurant. Instead, we had to go find a place to park on some side … [Read more...]

I grew up in Revere, Mass., just outside Boston, where people drink iced coffee like Southerners drink sweet tea. When I was a child, I remember my mother, Carmen, buying coffee syrup so we could mix it with milk. I drink iced coffee nearly every day (even in the winter). I have tried every way imaginable to make my favorite drink. I made my own coffee syrup. I used two … [Read more...]
