My birthday falls on a day that will live in infamy, Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Day. Each year, I can count on two things from my wife, Wendi (the founder of this blog): A poem and a homemade pineapple upside down cake. One year, Wendi found a recipe in the "Joy of Cooking" cookbook for pineapple upside down cake. She decided she would make it for me. Oh, my. The cake was the best pineapple upside down cake I ever had. It has become a tradition over the past 15 years or so. Wendi makes … [Read more...]
Thankful This Guy Found Me
Today is Thanksgiving 2016. I am so thankful for many things in my life, but Bobby Warren tops the list. On this weekend 22 years ago he asked me to marry him. (We met at Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary.) The exact day was Sunday night after we had both returned to Cincinnati after going to our respective families to celebrate the holiday and let them know that we had found each other. We had already decided to get married in the following March, but as I told my family, nothing was … [Read more...]

The reason is 'cause I am writing about one of my dearest friends who left me this week to go to the rainbow bridge. My grandparents' dog Corky left us late on Tuesday night. Corky was a Beagle Labrador mix. He was about 12 years old. I met him when he was 9, but my parents are the ones responsible for him being … [Read more...]
Owney: My Vacation with Uncle Shaun
I know my mom and dad, Wendi and Bobby, have posted a lot about their vacation to see Dad's side of the family in Boston. I am sure everyone would agree that it looked like they had an awesome time. But while they were out East, I stayed in Ohio with Mom's side of the family. I usually stay with Grandma and Grandpa, which I love. (In fact, you can read about how much here.) This time, though, Grandma and Grandpa were vacationing at the same time as Mom and Dad. So, I got the best surprise ever! … [Read more...]
