I recently completed my 10th half marathon in Akron in late September. My husband, Shaun, and I started running and entering races at this distance as a forced exercise program to lose weight four years ago. Fit by 50: Fact or Fiction?
Two years ago, right around my 48th birthday I thought to myself, "OK, you're going to be 50 in two years, why not make it your goal to be fit by 50." I thought taking it slow and giving myself 2 years sounded reasonable. Well... here we are and I am a scant 6 months from my birthday and "fit" isn't exactly a term I would use to describe me. I Ran My First 5K and Lived to Tell About It
On Saturday, Wendi (my wife and founder of this blog) and I ran the Ashland YMCA Fritter 5K. While I have run the distance before in high school (not as part of a sanctioned race) and have walked a couple 5Ks, this was my first time running a 5K, if you can call it that.
