Since I started my blog, I try to get to new places and go to different restaurants. However, sometimes I just want to get something familiar and dear to me. That's exactly how I ended up at Skyline Chili on Friday, October 14, 2016. I was at a training being held at the Holiday Inn in Mayfield Village. It was a two part training, but lunch was "on our own." I was not familiar with the area, so I turned on my trusty cell to see what Google maps could tell me. There were places closer to … [Read more...]
(Own)E’s Golf Cart Experience
When my parents, Bobby and Wendi, took me to Put-In-Bay, I wondered how we would get around. I like walking, and in fact would walk a whole lot more if I could. But I had heard the island is a pretty good size place. I was worried that my little legs wouldn't last the day. Thankfully my fears were put to rest, because we had a golf cart from E's Golf Carts to use. (Thanks to the generosity of the Miller Boat Line, my parents didn't have to pay for the cart. Thanks, Katrina! You saved my … [Read more...]
How Did Owney, a Dog, Land a Writing Gig?
I know, I am not your typical beagle-terrier mix. I mean how many dogs do you know who are regular contributors on a blog? But even I am surprised by the twists and turns my life takes sometimes. A case in point is the recent invitation to travel to Put-in-Bay and then write about it. Let me back up a bit. My parents, Bobby and Wendi, recently left me at my vacation home (aka Grandma's and Grandpa's house) to go to a blogging conference. (Dad wrote about it and what he learned. You can … [Read more...]
Lessons Learned at Geneva State Park
Maybe it is because yesterday was the Autumnal Equinox (the first day of fall), I feel the need to hold onto summer for just another day or two. I am doing that by reliving the recent visit to Geneva On The Lake, Ohio. We visited on a really hot July day -- although I think the whole summer was really hot. The "we" included my husband, Bobby, my parents, Bud and Dolores, my great-nephew, Ameareka and his mom, Aya. Ameareka is 6 years old and neither he nor his mom had ever seen Lake Erie. Aya … [Read more...]
Spending Part of the Day at the ‘Night of the Museum’
If this blog is about anything, it is about fun trips, tasty eats and good movies. My husband Bobby and I have started to look for ways we can visit movie locations, and the latest one is "Night of the Museum." The movie, starring Ben Stiller and some museum exhibits, was filmed, in part, in the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, across the street from Central Park and down the street from the building featured in "Ghostbusters." What I really liked about this movie is that … [Read more...]
