When my dad, Bobby, told my mom, Wendi, that a guy named Richard Osterlind was doing a magic lecture in Cincinnati on Saturday, March 25, 2017, I was sure that meant I would be visiting my family in Lodi. That is usually what happens when they go away on a trip. I appreciate their concern for me and wanting to make sure I am not stuck in the house the whole day, but sometimes I wish I could go with them. Well I don't know if Dad can really read minds or if they couldn't find someone to watch me, … [Read more...]
Mohican State Park Lodge — A Place to Linger
Last weekend, when my husband, Bobby, and I went away for an overnight stay in Mansfield, Ohio, we took a detour to the Mohican State Lodge and Resort. I mentioned in a previous post that I knew I liked the place as soon as I walked in, but that I would tell you why later. (You can read my previous post here.) Well, it's later. I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but sometimes when I visit a location it just makes me want to linger. That's what happened Saturday. We walked into … [Read more...]
Simon’s: Real New York Pastrami in the Buckeye State
This past Monday, February 6, I asked my husband, Bobby, for a favor. I had to go to downtown Cleveland to drop off a document for my company, so I asked him to drive me. I really dislike driving to Cleveland. Even though it is closer than Columbus, I would rather drive there than go north to Cleveland. Because Bobby is fully awesome, he only hesitated for a moment. He agreed to take me, if I would do the driving back to Wooster so he could work. I agreed. Whatever it took so I didn't have to … [Read more...]
Did We Just Get Authentic Philly Cheesesteak in Ohio?
Wendi and I have been very busy lately, with work, with the holidays, with our great-nephews and with helping to organize a marriage event. Because of our schedules, there has not been a lot of traveling done for this blog, just a whole lot of whatnot. But, Wendi remedied that Saturday when she let it be known she wanted to go do something for the blog. That something turned out to be a triple treat: Lunch at Original Steaks and Hoagies in Twinsburg, Ohio; a walk with Owney, our dog, through … [Read more...]
Oh, Mercy! Mercy Street Season 2 Begins Sunday
When I was a kid I always looked forward to fall, not just for the cooler weather, but also because of the new TV shows and new seasons of my favorite TV shows starting again. Thankfully for me, an avid couch potato, I don't have to wait to get my fix of new episodes until fall for some of my favorites. Now new seasons start in January, too. A show that is beginning again that I am so excited for is Mercy Street. It is a PBS historical medical drama that is set in Alexandria, Virginia during the … [Read more...]
