Amish Country is one of the favorite destinations that my husband, Bobby, and I always enjoy visiting. If we are free on a Saturday, we might spontaneously decide we want to go explore Holmes County and the shops that are there. When we first moved into the area, we made a trip to Holmes County and ended up in Mount Hope. That was our first time there, and I suggested that we go to Mrs. Yoder's for lunch. Bobby had said it looked "too touristy." So we didn't stop. When Bobby went back to … [Read more...]
Will the 2017 Solar Eclipse Help This Blog Eclipse Last Year’s Numbers?
Time is running out, and the question on everybody's mind (OK, maybe it's just us, but play along) is will the views on Wendi's Weekend Trips & Whatnot in 2017 eclipse the numbers from 2016? So, we compromised: We stayed close to … [Read more...]
Anniversary Adventure at Holden Arboretum
My husband, Shaun, and I recently celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. We wanted to find something to do together that day, that would be memorable. We decided to go to the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio to check out the canopy walk and emergent tower. Since I can't explain it any better than their website: "The Holden Arboretum is an outdoor living museum on 3,600 acres that promotes the beauty and importance of trees and other woody plants. The grounds feature over 20 miles of … [Read more...]

While this year has been sort of a "slow" year with visiting places -- we've been saving for our New York City trip -- we wanted to highlight some things to consider doing while the weather is "good." 1. Cedar Point If you love roller coasters, then obviously Cedar Point is the place to go. Their newest ride, Valravn, which is in its second season, is a take-your-breath-away drop coaster. The time you are … [Read more...]
