About a month or so ago, I received an invite to attend a friend's 50th birthday. In what seemed like two seconds after the invite, I received a text from my friend asking whether I was coming to the party or not because I hadn't clicked on the link and RSVP'd. I told him Wendi and I indeed were coming, and I found the link and indicated we would be intending the 50th birthday bash of Kenny Hart. I met Kenny, along with his fiancee, Dawn Hott, about a year ago through a mutual friend, the … [Read more...]
Music, Food, Fun & Friends at Fiore’s
My husband, Bobby and I have driven by Fiore's in Wooster for years on our way to RKO. We've even gone by when they have had bands playing on the patio, but we've never stopped. That is until Friday, July 28, when a Pat Benatar tribute band was playing. The name of the band is Invincible: A Tribute to Pat Benatar and the '80s. Bobby loves to listen to live music. I love '80s music. The weather was great, even a little cool for a July evening. The band was awesome. Bobby had such a good time … [Read more...]
Spend a Few Minutes With Frank (Sinatra Impersonator)
I celebrate my birthday for a week, and while there have been a couple events already, Friday was the big kick off to my annual birthday week. Joined by my husband, Bobby, and my parents, Bud and Dolores Breese, we went to the Music Box Supper Club in Cleveland to watch Michael Sonata, a Frank Sinatra impersonator. Michael and his band were terrific. It is late on Friday; we just got home, and I wanted to give you a taste of a wonderful concert. Check out the video below of "New York, New York," … [Read more...]
A 40-year Brumance with @Springsteen
This is about a Brumance. As a freshman at Ohio University in 1978, walking down the dorm hall, I heard it. A guitar rip that stopped me in my tracks. My RA’s door was open. I asked, “Who’s that?” It was Bruce Springsteen, and it was Born to Run. It was the album, but more importantly to my music future, it was “Born to Run,” the song. I’d heard of him, but didn’t know him. I do now, nearly 40 years later, at least as much as a fan can know someone she’s never met. I’ve … [Read more...]
End of Summer Reflections
Today, September 6, might be considered the unofficial end of Summer 2016 -- or beginning of Fall depending on if you think of Labor day as the end of Summer. Phew! I don't know about you, but for me and my husband, Bobby, it has been a whirlwind of a season. I thought I might reflect on things a little, partly because I am tired from the weekend, but mostly because I had such a great summer, I kind of want to re-live it. The Beginning of Summer in May -- It started out quiet enough with … [Read more...]
