My dad, Warren (Bud) Breese, is mostly the kind of man that goes with the flow of things. When asked what he wants for Christmas or Father's Day, he usually says, "world peace." I know, he doesn't ask for a lot--so we usually give him a trivia game or book or take him to the movies. But the point is, when he asks specifically for something, it is a rare occasion. (One caveat, in case my mother contests this, I'm speaking from a daughter's point of view.) So on Saturday, February 6, 2016 when he … [Read more...]
Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream Better Than Graeter’s?
I would not call myself an ice cream snob. I have had (and enjoyed) all kinds of ice cream from the very costly to the least expensive. Anyone else remember when you could get a gallon of ice cream in a box? But I do have my favorite ice cream. Graeter's chocolate chocolate chip ice cream is simply the best. Heck’s Cafe Worth the Effort, Journey & Money
Saturday, August 22, 2015 was the day that my sister, Randi, and I did the obstacle/zip line course at the Go Ape Treetop Adventure in Strongsville, Ohio. (You can read more about that and watch videos here.) It was also the day that we rewarded ourselves for our efforts at Heck's Cafe in Avon, Ohio. When I say it was a reward, I mean it! For background, Bobby and I found out about Heck's Cafe through our newest favorite Food Network show, Burgers, Brews and 'Que, hosted by Michael Symon. … [Read more...]
