I met The Music Man as a child on cable TV and HBO. I watched the movie over and over fully enamoured by Robert Preston's portrayal of Professor Harold Hill. I memorized the songs and my sister, Randi, memorized the choreography. We discovered that our dad had the vinyl album of the original soundtrack from the movie and we listened to it frequently (even recording it on a cassette tape). Over the years I have met The Music Man in various settings from high school auditoriums to college … [Read more...]
Mama Santa’s a nice option in Cleveland’s Little Italy
Wendi and I recently joined Jon and Linda Hall (of Walking Ohio with Jon and Linda Hall fame) on a trip to Cleveland where we spent the day at the Cleveland Museum of Art and part of the night in Little Italy, where we ate dinner at Mama Santa's Restaurant and Pizzeria. We settled on the restaurant thanks to a Facebook group to which I belong. The group caters to foodies in Northeast Ohio. I was looking for a nice, traditional Neapolitan pizza. Cleveland Museum of Art: Culture Well Within Our Reach

That gift was a box of Sweet Moses chocolates. The candy was amazing, but because I had never heard of the brand before, I had to investigate. Turns out that the chocolates come from Sweet Moses Soda Fountain and Treat Shop! I was super excited to find this out. Ever since we went to … [Read more...]
The Original Steaks & Hoagies Opens in Fairlawn on National Cheesesteak Day
A year or so ago, Bobby and I decided to take a day trip that landed us in Twinsburg, Ohio so that we could try a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Bobby had done a search for the best Philly Cheesesteak in Ohio and The Original Steaks & Hoagies was by far the most recommended. (You can read about the adventure here.) One of the owners saw Bobby's post and put it on the company's website. Bobby saw that and they became Facebook friends. Because of that, one of the owners, Jeff Wiseman, … [Read more...]
