When I was growing up I remember watching a few episodes of the Andy Griffith Show during the summer. It was on at Noon, so while I was eating lunch I watched the show. It has been years since I had seen an episode. That is until recently. My husband, Bobby, and I have a access to Amazon Prime. Disney Plus and Netflix, so we have gotten in the habit of binge watching TV series. Recently we've watched Counterparts and Jack Ryan on Amazon, The Mandalorian on Disney Plus and Longmire on Netflix. … [Read more...]
How Little Ronnie Muir Upset Big Babe Ruth
One of the things I enjoy in life is meeting people and hearing their stories. (Maybe that is because I grew up listening to my dad, Bud, tell stories of his life.) I am fascinated by people who have been around awhile and have much more experience than me. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with a 92 year old during a recent trip to Massachusetts. My husband, Bobby, and I always stay with his sister, Michelle, and her husband, Glenn. Glenn's dad, Ronnie, also lives with … [Read more...]
Let Me Give You a Preview of Cedar Point Shores Waterpark
"It was a dark and stormy night." That is how the Peanuts character Snoopy would begin his stories in the comic strips I read as a kid. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying being part of the exclusive event and getting a preview of the newly revamped waterpark. This … [Read more...]
Oh, Mercy! Mercy Street Season 2 Begins Sunday
When I was a kid I always looked forward to fall, not just for the cooler weather, but also because of the new TV shows and new seasons of my favorite TV shows starting again. Thankfully for me, an avid couch potato, I don't have to wait to get my fix of new episodes until fall for some of my favorites. Now new seasons start in January, too. A show that is beginning again that I am so excited for is Mercy Street. It is a PBS historical medical drama that is set in Alexandria, Virginia during the … [Read more...]
Ricardo Montalban: A Memory of a Lifetime
I was recently looking back over my blog posts and realized I had said I was going to tell my story about Ricardo Montalban. I had told my husband, Bobby, that one thing I wanted to do in my life was to meet Ricardo Montalban. Even though it was on my bucket list, I thought the chances of it actually happening were very slim. (As a side note, I have learned to stop doubting what can happen when Bobby Warren is on your side.) It just so happened that in the early part of the year 2000, a … [Read more...]
