If there is one thing that the Gate House Boyz (Twitter: @GateHouseBoyz), aka Bobby Warren and Dan Starcher, take seriously, it's lunch. The topic of lunch usually comes up somewhere around 10 a.m., if not earlier. Luckily, there are a lot of places in Wooster to eat lunch, recently we finally made it to Smoke: The Burger Joint. The restaurant boasts a truly American menu with traditional fare like burgers, fries and hot dogs. Everything is smoked to perfection, but menu items are … [Read more...]
A Wisconsin Tale of Butter Burgers, Spicy Cheese Bread
Wendi and I watched an episode of Cook's Country, a PBS series done by the folks at America's Test Kitchen, in which the chefs made a Wisconsin spicy cheese bread. While talking about the bread, they also mentioned Wisconsin Butter Burgers, something of which I had never heard. The bread looked good. It used a brioche dough, which involves eggs. I am not a big fan of brioche breads, but this spicy cheese bread looked really good, so I asked Wendi to make one. She probably will for our … [Read more...]
Serving Up Blog Leftovers From 2016
Wow, we're in the year 2017! Seems like just the other day that we were in 2016.(I know, we were, I just think it is funny to say. I'm like my dad in that way.) Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: Wooster/Put-in-Bay Edition
Wendi, my wife and the founder of this blog, and I attended our first blogging conference this summer: Bloggy Conference 2016, which was held at Cedar Point. It was there we met Katrina Reed, from Miller Boat Lines, who attended the conference to build relationships with bloggers. From the meeting, we were given two tickets for ferry rides from Miller Boat Line and a golf cart from E's Golf Carts. There was a twist: Katrina wanted our dog, Owney, to "write" the blog. He was more than happy to … [Read more...]
