When I was growing up in Revere, Mass., I loved watching on a Friday night the previews of the new Saturday morning cartoons coming out in the summer. Probably my favorite cartoon was Hong Kong Phooey. In the spirit of those beginning-of-summer previews, allow me to give you a glimpse of things we are anticipating on Wendi’s Weekend Trips & Whatnot this summer.
Family stuff
With our niece Ashley and her boys, DeAveon and Noah, spending a lot of time in this area, we are getting to do things with them that had not really been available to us in the past. Wendi and I recently went with Ashley and the boys to the Alice Noble Ice Arena twice — once with our church, Parkview Christian Church, and the other time with her company, The Village Network.
We attended a concert by Noah.
We participated in a “clap out” for DeAveon and his fellow fifth-graders as they wrapped up their last year in elementary school and prepare for middle school (who knew such a thing existed).
More restaurants
The number of blogs we need to write about restaurants and food is on the rise. Dan Starcher and I, known collectively as the GateHouseBoyz, have been to Wild Ginger …
Spoon Market & Delicatessen, and …
China Garden, to name a few. We need to write about these visits.
Wendi and I have been to the historic Berry’s Restaurant in Norwalk, …
Music Box Supper Club (where we saw a Frank Sinatra impersonator), …
Wally Waffle in Akron, and …
100th Bomb Group Restaurant in Cleveland, and probably a couple more.
More New York
Wendi and I really loved our time in Manhattan last year that we are going back, but this time with Wendi’s sister and husband, Randi and Shaun. We will be staying in Times Square at the Hilton.
For some people, summer is a time to slow down and relax, but for Wendi and her blog … things are starting to heat up! Thanks for joining us in this endeavor. We appreciate it.
