I know my mom and dad, Wendi and Bobby, have posted a lot about their vacation to see Dad’s side of the family in Boston. I am sure everyone would agree that it looked like they had an awesome time. But while they were out East, I stayed in Ohio with Mom’s side of the family. I usually stay with Grandma and Grandpa, which I love. (In fact, you can read about how much here.) This time, though, Grandma and Grandpa were vacationing at the same time as Mom and Dad. So, I got the best surprise ever! I got to spend my vacation with my Uncle Shaun!
Let me be fair, I was also with Aunt Randi and my border collie cousins, Parker and Admiral Nelson, but the best thing ever is hanging with Uncle Shaun. I don’t know what it is about him, but I just really, really love him. I love to sit on his lap. I love to sit beside him. I love it when he picks me up and holds me in the air. If anyone else did that, you know I would give them a piece of my mind and maybe I would even take a piece out of them. But not Uncle Shaun. He can do just about anything to me and I wouldn’t mind at all.
The only bad part, if you could even say it is a bad part, is that Uncle Shaun works really hard. That means that he wasn’t home all day with me, even though I was on vacation. I guess he has to work, but I was sad to see him go each morning. Thankfully, Aunt Randi decided that Parker and Nelson should stay home with me. So she wouldn’t take them to work with her, which she sometimes does. Parker, Nelson and I just hung out while we waited for them to come home. I stayed mostly on the top of the couch looking out the window. Not only could I see what was going on in the neighborhood and alert the boys whenever Scat (Aunt Randi’s outdoor cat) came around, but I also had the best vantage point to see when Uncle Shaun got home. He drives this big truck, so I heard it before I could see it, but when I saw it pull in, I just couldn’t help but get excited.
I love my Uncle Shaun so much that I made sure that I got the best spot in the bed each night. I slept between him and Aunt Randi at the top of the bed. That was the coziest place. Parker and Nelson let me do it. I don’t know if Aunt Randi liked it much, but I didn’t care. I was on vacation and I was spending it with my Uncle Shaun!
While I was on vacation, I got to play a lot. Aunt Randi and Uncle Shaun have this great big fenced in backyard. Plenty of things to sniff, let me tell you. While Nelson and Parker played, I would mostly sniff and run around. In the house, Nelson and I played on the couch. Parker let us, but sometimes he gets a little cranky and yells. I mostly ignore him. But let me tell you, when Uncle Shaun came home and I got to sit down by him, nobody, but nobody, better get in my way. I let them know that I wasn’t willing to share him with anyone.
I even went with everyone to the campground to help close down their camper for the season. What an adventure! But I was ready to go before they were. Aunt Randi opened the door to the truck a couple of times. I’d get in but she would get me out because there was still more work to be done.
After that road trip, both me and Uncle Shaun were exhausted!
I don’t know when Mom and Dad are taking another trip. I’m just glad that I have great family to stay with when they do. What else could a dog ask for?
