Since my mom, Wendi, has been laid up for a a couple of weeks, I decided to write about my trip to the Country Corner Animal Clinic. Thanks to their willingness to accommodate my freaked-out mom, I got the treatment I needed to feel better.
It all started earlier this week. I was really tired and my tummy felt yucky. When Mom and I went out for a walk, I thought eating grass would help. It didn’t. All I wanted to do was lay around.
Mom noticed on Tuesday, October 6, that I wasn’t myself. I normally like to take long walks around our neighborhood. There are so many things to smell and pee on, that I take my time. But this week, I didn’t even want to walk. I let her take me out, but I would choose the shorter route. I think that is when she got suspicious that I wasn’t feeling good.
Next, I was really cranky. I like Kirby, my new kitten, a lot. But this week, even he got on my nerves. He wouldn’t leave me alone! The only time he was sort of O.K. was when we would lay down for a nap.
When I started licking my lips, Mom got really freaked out. I don’t normally do that. So, she made a call to the clinic. They were booked for the day, but said they would call if they had a cancellation. Thank goodness they did!
Mom took me for a ride in the car, which is something I am always excited about. But on Tuesday, even though I was glad for the ride, I sat down in the back. If you know anything about me, I basically can’t sit still on a car ride. I’m jumping from the back of the HHR to the back seat to the passenger’s lap and back. So for me to sit and just look out the windows, not even barking at semi-trucks, was very unusual.
At the clinic, Mom told the vet tech and the vet about my symptoms. The vet said that licking lips means an upset stomach. I could have told her that, if only I could talk. She suggested medicine for nausea. Also, because Mom didn’t know why my stomach was upset, she mentioned she could do blood work. My very neurotic mother opted to do the blood work. So not only did I get a shot for the medicine, I also got poked for my blood! Seriously, I did not sign up for that!
In the end, my blood work was fine. That is good, it means I am basically a healthy dog. The medication worked, eventually, cause I did start to feel better. Though Mom still made me miss my day care appointment the next day at Cleveland Road Animal Hospital and Pet Hotel. She thought I could use an extra day of rest. While I wasn’t happy about that, I think she was right. (My dad says, Mom is usually right.) I took a nice long nap with Mom on Wednesday and by Thursday was my old self.
Thanks to everyone at the Country Corner Animal Clinic. You made both me and my mom feel better!
