My husband, Bobby and I have driven by Fiore’s in Wooster for years on our way to RKO. We’ve even gone by when they have had bands playing on the patio, but we’ve never stopped. That is until Friday, July 28, when a Pat Benatar tribute band was playing. The name of the band is Invincible: A Tribute to Pat Benatar and the ’80s.
Bobby loves to listen to live music. I love ’80s music. The weather was great, even a little cool for a July evening. The band was awesome. Bobby had such a good time listening. His smile was huge when the band played Barracuda, by Heart.
We were having a great time hanging out and then the food came. And let me just say it took it up another notch! I ordered the Bandit Burger. It is a 1/2 pound locally raised angus pattie with cheddar cheese, coleslaw and thick bacon on a kaiser bun. It came with one really big onion ring which I gave to Bobby. The burger was terrific. It was cooked just like I asked. It was juicy and messy with the coleslaw. (This is not a criticism, I like messy burgers.) And the icing on top was the fresh cut fries. These fries were like what I have gotten at the fair, without the fair price tag! Talk about a perfect meal.
Bobby ordered a 12″ Meatball sub with fresh cut fries. The meatballs tasted homemade to me. (He gave me one.) He thinks that they were cooked in the sauce instead of fried or baked. This made them really moist. The menu said that the meatballs are drowned in sauce and topped with provolone. Whether drowned or not, the sandwich was good. And the pile of fries were too many for Bobby to finish off.
The others at our table, Ken and Dawn, new friends we just made, and their friend, Sherry, also really enjoyed their meals.
Sherry got a 10″ pizza with sausage, banana peppers and fresh garlic. It lasted through all of the first set.
Ken and Dawn had the stuffed shells. They said that they split the meal because it was too big for either one of them to finish alone. The meal came with garlic bread and a side salad.
Towards the end of the first set, Ken decided to order a slice caramel apple cheesecake. The piece was huge! It looked really good and for a half a minute Bobby and I were tempted to order dessert, too. However, since we weren’t able to even finish our meals, it would not have been judicious to try to stuff in dessert, no matter how good the cheesecake looked!
We weren’t able to stay through the second set because Bobby had to work the next day. (The life of a reporter is a very busy one!) But I heard that the band Invincible will be playing in Doylestown on Saturday, August 5 around 7 p.m. They’ll be downtown playing at the Rouges’ Hollow Festival. If you like to listen to 80s music, then Invincible is a great cover band. If you are interested in good food and entertainment in Wooster, then Fiore’s is a good option for you. (Saturday, August 5, the AC/DC cover band, Thunderstruck, will be there.)
If you know of places to hear live music, let me know. Bobby always enjoys kicking back and listening to a good band. And if there is good food involved, I’ll come, too!
