It’s no surprise that I deeply love my husband, Bobby Warren. If we ever have a conversation about marriage, I will tell you that my life began when we got married 22 years ago. While neither one of us is perfect, we are perfect for each other. As a way to celebrate our anniversary this year, we have gotten away and are enjoying ourselves at the Mohican Lodge and Conference Center in Perrysville, Ohio.
I told you a few weeks ago that I was drawn to the place when we came for a late lunch to the Bromfield Restaurant. I just had to come back to linger. We had planned to leave work early on Friday, but that didn’t work like we wanted. So we got to the lodge later than expected. But in the end it didn’t matter because we had finally arrived and could just relax.
We checked in and went to our room. We relaxed a little, checking out the pictures I took on the way down to the lodge of the sunset. (I took the pictures because Bobby was driving, but he edited them to make them look good.)
Then we meandered down the hall to go to Boxers Lounge. We stopped to check out the pool.
At Boxers, we were glad to see a table for two available. It happened to be next to the popcorn machine. We gladly partook of it.
It is a little funny, but because we are able to charge things to the room, I decided to splurge and got a virgin strawberry daiquiri. It wasn’t as expensive as a regular daiquiri, but probably more expensive than a soda.
We decided on pizza for dinner. I think that if we’re here for lunch on Saturday, I might finally order the Bromfield Burger. (Bobby had that last time and it was great — the bite I had.) The pizza was really good. It was topped with bacon and pepperoni. It had a lot of cheese on it, the pepperoni was good and the bacon was real bacon.
After dinner, we decided to take our books from The Art of Marriage event to the lobby and sit by the fire. I was a little disappointed that there were already people sitting around the fire, but at least there were chairs for Bobby and me. We started reading to ourselves. Then the guy next to me started talking to us.
Turns out he and his wife are spending the weekend here too. The other couple by the fire is also here for the weekend and celebrating their 57th anniversary. We all started talking about marriage and life and travel and what makes marriage work. What I thought as a disappointment, turned out to be a highlight of the evening.
We finally decided to head back to the room. I hadn’t thought about blogging this weekend. (I figured that we would let the previous post on Helms Old Fashion Barbershop run for the weekend.) However, Bobby thought it would be better to post something for our anniversary. So marriage brought us here today — to Mohican Lodge — to the fire place to meet Jeff and Barb and Fred and Jean — to this blog post. Marriage it is a beautiful thing!
