This past week, my great nephew, Noah, celebrated his birthday. On Saturday, January 23, 2015, my husband, Bobby, my parents, Bud and Dolores and I traveled to Columbus, Ohio to see him. We met Noah, DeAveon (his older brother) and his mom, Ashley at Chuck E. Cheese’s in Dublin.
Back in August we celebrated DeAveon’s birthday at Magic Mountain. We decided Chuck E. Cheese’s was better to do in January. Since Magic Mountain has outdoor activities that are closed in the winter, the boys wouldn’t have been able to do as much. For a Saturday the place wasn’t as busy as I expected. We did get there pretty early, so maybe most people were still getting themselves psyched up to spend time around screaming children.
Noah and Dee seemed to have a good time. They used many of the tokens. I say many and not all because at one point my parents came back to the table with an ID card. It was called a Royal Princess card. The back of the card said it was a Princess Privilege Pass. I saw that and knew I had to get me one. After all, I am a princess. (Don’t believe me? My brother is the King of Kings.)
So after spending several tokens and wearing out the printer in the machine, I still didn’t get one. I got a cheerleader champion card, a hip hop dancer card, a movie star card and a girls USA soccer team card. At that point the machine ran out of cards. I had to get a staff person to come and fill the machine with more cards. I requested that she put a princess card in first so that I would be sure to get the princess ID card. Well after a good 10 minutes, the machine finally started working again. The staff person gave me a handful of tokens for my trouble and I sat down to take my picture for my princess card. But alas, when all was said and done, my picture smeared. All you can see now is my nose and a portion of my smile. Not very regal, that is for sure. By this time a line was forming and I was out of tokens anyways. (I’m kidding about the line.) I think I’ll just paste a picture over the printed one. It’s not like I’ll ever be carded to verify my royal status.
Oh yeah, back to Noah. Dee was nice and gave Noah the tickets he won with the games he played. Noah used the tickets to get two of the same thing, so both he and Dee could play. I doubt I would have done that for either of my sisters when I was a kid.
We said goodbye, begging for hugs from boys who are 6 and 9 years old. Apparently not a cool thing to do. As always, spending time with the boys allowed me to feel like a kid again. Only this time around I enjoy it more!
