I began this blog so that I could write about the things that my husband, Bobby, and I to do together. Yet there sometimes when Bobby doesn’t want to do what I’d like to do. Thankfully I have friends who I can do these things with. Case in point, on Wednesday February 28th, 2018, my friend, Jessica, and I went for pedicures. This is something Bobby would never agree to do!
Jessica and I have been planning on this for about a month. It is the beginning of her birthday week, which today is her birthday. (Happy Birthday, Jessica!) We went to Nail Spa and Salon, a place that Jessica had gone to previously with her mother and her aunt. I have not had a pedicure since my trip to New York City, so I was due.
Our appointment was for 5:15 and we got there around 5:17 because of the traffic. As soon as we walked in Mallory told us we could pick our colors while they got the basins ready for us. For anyone who’s ever had a pedicure, you probably know the many options available regarding fingernail polish. This may be one of the hardest parts about getting a pedicure. Trying to decide which color to go with.
Nail Spa and SalonĀ offered several different brands of polish, but I typically gravitate towards OPI. Wednesday was no different. I always liked their rich and vibrant colors. And they’re fun names are also a draw. I settled on a shade of red that I think was called Eenie Meenie Mighty Bow. However, now that I am aging, I cannot see the tiny type on the bottle. I asked Jessica to read it to me and I honestly can’t remember if was mighty bow or what. Regardless, once that decision was made, I was ready for some relaxation.
Our pedicurists were Mallory and Lindsey. Mallory worked with Jessica and Lindsey worked with me. As we sat and chatted, we found out that Lindsey has been at the spa for two years and Mallory for 3 years. I could tell that they had experience by the way they were able to work on our toes with little effort.
Without getting too graphic, I could definitely see the difference between Jessica’s frequently pedicured feet to my much more neglected ones. Lindsey definitely had her work cut out from her on Wednesday. But she did not complain one bit. I joked and said that my feet are probably the oldest she has seen, in which she replied that she has even worked on some older than mine. In fact she has done some work on a 90 year old man’s feet. She doesn’t actually do a full pedicure for him, but cuts his nails. So actually, I guess Bobby could go with me for a pedicure. However I highly doubt that will ever happen!
Lindsay and Mallory did a great job on our toes. I especially enjoy the massage of my feet and legs prior to the color being applied to my toes. It can be so relaxing just letting someone work on your feet. If you haven’t had that done you should probably give it a try. It’s well worth the investment.
As a side note, since we were celebrating Jessica’s birthday, we ended up making a night of it. After our toes were dry, we decided to head out for dinner. We wanted to make it something a little more special because we were celebrating, so we ended up at Osaka.
I have only been to Osaka one other time, which you can read about here, so this was a real treat for me. Jessica and I enjoyed our dinner with two other parties. Jessica chose the filet mignon and I went for a combination of steak and scallops. Are meals included salad and soup. As well as either fried rice or lo mein and vegetables (although Jessica opted for both rice and noodles). They also give you a shrimp appetizer and since Jessica doesn’t like shrimp I got hers too!
I didn’t realize at Osaka, that you can tell them you don’t want a certain vegetable. Had I realized that, I would have told them no onions. But since I didn’t I knew I would end up having some onions served on my plate with my other vegetables. What ended up happening, is that I think I got all of the onions that were chopped up with the other vegetables. I thought this was quite ironic, so I had to take a picture of it.
At the end of our dinner, one of the other patrons at our table reminded the waitress that it was Jessica’s birthday. So the waitress came out with a ice cream concoction and we all sang happy birthday to her. It was quite the evening. I am glad that Jessica asked me to join her for the kickoff of her birthday week. By the way, I’m not sure Jessica actually celebrates her birthday for a week, but since I think everyone should, let’s just go with it.
I would highly recommend a trip to Nail Spa and Salon for a pedicure. It’s just nice to have a time to be pampered. Plus your toes look really good at the end of the night, too!
