I have been a Bible believing Christian for decades now. I don’t hide my faith, but I will admit that I’m not vocal about it either. I’ve always been uncomfortable with “witnessing” to people about Jesus. But I have been recently convicted of my need to share the gospel — the good news — about Jesus, my Savior.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I have always been drawn to poetry. Not deep poetry, but Hallmark greeting card poetry. So as a way to share this message that’s been on my heart, I’ve written this poem:
I want to take this time
To let you know how much I care.
To share what’s on my mind,
To make this message loud and clear. There’s a God who loves you
Much more than I can ever say.
Who wants what’s best for you,
Today and each and every day.I don’t know why I’m scared
To talk about His love for you.
Perhaps I’m unprepared
To face what you may say or do.I cannot hold it in,
To let another day pass by.
For what if you miss Him,
Because I didn’t even try?And what if in the end,
You missed a chance at paradise?
Because I did not send
This message of eternal life?Besides I cannot bear
The thought of heaven without you.
And that is why I’ve shared,
This simple little poem with you.So now it’s up to you
On what you do about this rhyme.
Believe that it is true,
Or that it’s just a waste of time.Whatever you decide
My friend, the truth will always be,
He came to earth and died
And rose again to set us free.Remember God loves you
This day and through eternity.
So what will you now do?
Please take His gift of liberty!
I pray that the Holy Spirit will use this as a seed to grow in your heart so that you, too, will come to know Jesus as your Savior. So whether we are the best of friends or someone I’ve never met, the truth of His love is for all of us. If we never meet in this life, I hope to one day see you in heaven! God bless you!
